Skeptical at First

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical ordering these bridge pins, but I figured I could always send them back if they weren't what all the hype claimed them to be. After the change-out I must say they really do make an audible difference on my guitar. These replaced the plastic pins on my new Alvarez acoustic. I used the very same strings for a truer test rather than changing the strings along with the pins. I am now hearing a bit more sustain and a purer, cleaner tone - almost piano-like with more overtones after the change to Tusq pins. A bit more bass as well as clearer treble in the overall sound. This is an easy inexpensive way to liven up the sound of your acoustic. I can now recommend these pins without reserve. Give them a try. You can always send them back for just a few dollars in postage and packaging.

So... while I was changing my strings over this past Christmas break I noticed that one of my bridge pins was cracked. I already had to replace a couple of them with cheap plastic ones and decided that it was time to just get a whole new set. I have always heard good things about Graph Tech products so I knew that's what I wanted. I needed something that wasn't going to crack on me and maybe even improve the natural tone of my Alvarez. I was not disappointed. I'm not saying that I have the most developed ear for good tone but, it really seems like my guitar sounds a little brighter-like a more high end guitar- and they definitely aren't piece of crap plastic parts like the stock ones. I guess only time will tell if I really love them but I'm happy with them now.

If your acoustic guitar doesn't already come equipped with TUSQ pins, do yourself a favor and purchase a set. This is quite possibly the most affordable and noticeable improvement one can do for their sound.

Bone has dead spots, save an elephant and buy TUSQ!!

They still look plastic

I installed these pins at the same time as I switched from old GHS to new D'Addario strings so it's not a true apples to apples comparison but...these pins seem to have increased the sustain and tone of my Epi Masterbilt DR500M significantly. The tone is brighter and the sustain is much more pronounced, almost piano like. They installed very easily and seem to be a higher quality than the OEM plastic pieces. We'll have to see how they hold up over time.
