I gave this tube all 5's because of what it can do for a silverface Fender amp. Lots of Guys pass those over becuase they have such high clean headroom. If you've used an SF, you know that you have to crank it up all the way to start getting break up. This 6L6S can really help with that flaw. These tubes break up very early without going over the edge at high volumes. At half power you getting what other types deliver on 10 but the sound dosent flab out on these if you do go all the way up. Try these before paying for all the mods. In fact,If you use these 6L6S on your Silverface, with some DiMarzio Super Distortion HB's and a good Hi gain preamp set of Tubes (I recommend Tung Sol or JJ 12AX7)you might not have to speand the money on amp mods.The Super Distortion pickups were MADE to over drive those clean 70's tube amps.

The 6L6 may be the best sounding class of tube when over driven.. and the GT 6L6S does it best. In fact this thing pretty much sounds over driven at any volume, so its perfect for electic blues. Think johnny winter. This is the slovakian made 6l6 WHICH I CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE ELSE. If you have an Epi blues custom or a fender "tweed" type that wants 6l6 tubes, you probably want the sound these tubes deliver. Take out the stock 5AR4 and drop a slightly lower voltage rectifier (like a 5AU4 or even a 5Y3GT) and experience the love.

These tubes are awful. I used them in a hot rod deluxe to replace old Groove tube Bs and biased them and everything but after comparing them to the originals I thought I had to replace they were much fuller, especially in the distortion. These tubes are noisier too.
