No more Pearl for me, thanks!

I had a Pearl mesh head on my snare for quiet practice and I did notice that it tended to stretch a lot, until finally it just broke and ripped where the rimshot tends to hit it. While shopping around I wondered, is there anything better? I saw the Kontrol Screen Magnums and I thought, OK they're a little more but let's give them a try.

Let me tell you, they are well worth the money. For quiet practice (which is what I use them for), the response is way better than the Pearl head. It's not as flimsy - the mesh is woven very sturdy and it's a thicker head but still gives you silent play. And when I tuned it, it stayed, and didn't stretch more than any mylar head would. All in all it's an excellent head for quiet practice. My neighbors think so too.

Spend the money, and get these. I got a set of these for my DIY acoustic to electric drum set conversion and these have worked great. I originally bought the pearl version but they only lasted a week. Spend the money and do it right the first time.

Great alternative to Roland mesh

I recently outfitted my acoustic Pacific kit with the Hart Screens to convert them to V-drums triggering my TD-20 module with DDrum Pro snare triggers all around the kit. One thing that should be stressed is that these heads are single ply mesh heads as opposed to Roland's dual ply mesh so there's going to be considerable stretching involved. So far, I've played them for 4 hours and have had to retighten the heads about two times. Hopefully this will level out soon as I'm running out of tension rod threads but I like my heads very tight. These heads do perform every bit as well as the Rolands and the responsiveness feels more natural actually so we'll see how long these last but so far, so good!

Excellent Feel

I'm really impressed with these heads. I just installed them with dDrum triggers and a DM5 on my Pearl kit and after cranking them way tight and adjusting my sensitivity parameters, I have been having a blast. The feel, rebound, etc. are top-notch. I was afraid the mesh would be too absorbant but these things play like real heads--even under the extreme pressure I tune too. I'm happily shocked and amazed and the band can hear themselves over my set now! I just put on my headphones, hit as hard as I want, and turn the volume down at the PA. Everybody's happy!

Worth the money

I bought these heads to obtain the feel of a real drum head without the volume. They did exactly that. Allowed me to tone down and also added durability that I had never seen even in a regular drumhead. I also bought the pearl (and I'm a huge Pearl fan) version of the mesh, and it lasted one week, these lasted 6 months. I'm elated that these heads can give the feel of normal heads, and outlast a trusted brand name's product close to ten times.
