BAD FOR BASS

If you play bass this stand is not for you. I even asked MF if this stand is capable of holding a bass guitar and there answer was "yes". WRONG....It simply will not hold a bass. At least not a Fender Jazz. However for guitar it does work. This will be returned tomorrow.

I liked the first one I got so much that I purchased a second. These stands are well-built and very stable. I use them for my electric guitar, banjo and mandolin and have never had an instrument fall. Compact when folded (but, sometimes hard to fold). These are pricey, but worth the extra cost.

I first saw my music tutor with one & thought it would be a good thing to have. I have an Ultra fold-away guitar stand which similarly small & sturdy, but it's not as stable. The Hercules GS402B is very sturdy, portable & stable (even though a tad heavy - 1.9lbs). It is really quick to setup and fold away. Maybe if the foam on the backrest was flat instead of round, it would be even better, but that is a minor detail. I would still recommend it to any bassist who values their instrument.

This is up to Hercule's top notch quality and engineering. They are the best. That is why I am puzzled by Hercules. The top neophreme cushion is a half circle. Only a small part of the center touches the guitar. Why? It is round you know. The stand is low and the top of the neck is high. Bump the top of the neck, it will slide and tip. Not easy but it will, especially if you do not make a lot of extra effort to get the body out against the bottom cushions. Easy to do if dark, in a hurry or just not paying 101% attention. It only takes once. Come on Hercules, you got a real winner here. Exchange that top cushion for a flat one! Such a easy fix at no cost. As it stands, not with my guitar.

This little folding stand is outstanding. I can throw it in my gig bag and it's strong and quick to set up. HEAVY DUTY steel that's well worth the price.
