An immortal practice pick

I'll start by stating the obvious. These picks last forever, and they're great for those who like really stiff picks.

I don't have any issues with these getting slippery, but I don't sweat much. I have worse issues with Dunlop Tortex jazz picks because I wear them down to a really slick finish.

I really enjoy the overall feel of these picks, and I generally like the little sound difference that they make. However, they will manifest as an annoying scratching sound if you're every trying to play something soft and subtle on an electric guitar. I didn't actually notice this while playing, but it bothered me quite a bit when I was going back and mixing some of my old recordings.

These do wear on your strings a bit. I can see where I've scratched the plating off my Ernie Ball strings, but the damage accumulates slowly enough that the strings wear normally before the pick tears them up enough for it to matter.

Anyway, I think I got my money's worth in these picks. I originally added them to get to $99 and get free shipping, but I'll buy more if I lose all of mine.

These are nice because I wear out, snap, and melt normal picks all the time, and these are a great backup. They won't change your life, but these are fun and useful if you're in the mood for something a little different.

Metal picks are THE only way I can play stuff like through the fire and flames, witch invloves extreme tremelo picking. thick plastic ones are too thick and round, and plastic ones are too thin and flexible.

Some notes from a guy who's used steel picks

I've been using steel picks for over a decade. I usually use the Dunlop stainless steel that you can't get any more, but this applies to all of them.

Yes, they get slippery. Get some Gorilla Snot (available here). Use a LITTLE bit of it. Too much is bad, a little is perfect. It'll let you keep a grip without squeezing so hard.

You can't pick with a steel pick like you do a plastic one. Don't dig as hard--you want to kind of bounce the tip of the pick off the string. Once you get the hang of this you can pick runs with MUCH more fluidity and accuracy. If you're holding the pick in your fingertips this won't work--it's better if you're using the grip where you hold it between the last joine of the index finger and thumb.

These are cool, for about 10 seconds. I can't stand the "chimey" sound these produce..after all, it's not the pick you want to hear (unless you're scraping I suppose). The gripper slots are 100% useless and since they are slick, these picks will move between your fingers. Your picking speed will not improve using these over a good plastic pick.

I like the pick, it has a wild sound, but is something to get used to. I sandblasted the centers on mine. Tape off the edges so they stay smooth. This way you dont lose it when you get sweaty. I think I will try the bronze ones next.
