Great tuner for the price

First the review on battery life is odd. I've had mine since this model first came out and use mine daily and only have had to replace the batteries every couple of YEARS. It works awesome for acoustic instruments in loud environments, if you can keep the strings from picking up the noise too much.

Also, this CAN be used on electric guitars, too.I use this on a couple Fender electric guitars and an acoustic. It has no problems tuning the electric guitars, but if your guitar uses really light strings or has poor transmission of vibration, it may not detect the notes at all. I use 11s (works a tad better than when I had 9s) and you can clearly feel the vibration of the strings at the head, (which is a good thing).

It works well and is consistent with the other two small BOSS tuners I have in features and precision. Occasionally, it gets a little confused as to the note played, but (like other tuners I have used) it works best if you mute the strings between notes.

The battery door broke off, thanks to my infant son, and the plastic cracked around the elbow where it bends. I had tried to tighten it because it was loose. The construction is its weakest attribute, as the plastic at the elbow is a stress point.

Every time I tried to use this product the batteries were dead. I thought I had accidently left the tuner on, so I replaced the batteries, tuned my guitar, turned off the tuner and guess what, the next morning dead batteries. This happened several times. A set of batteries per tuning is too much, gonna have to get something better.

I've had two of these in the past 5 years and both of them had the same problem. Neither of them would read some of my string's state of tune at any given time. Considering how much these cost I think this company should be ashamed of their product, as it is not well tested and the quality seems spotty. I don't recommend this tuner.

I got the Intellitouch PT1 Tuner as a birthday gift about two years ago, and it has been amazing. If you've ever been in a band practice you know how hard it is to get tuned if you have to make everyone else stop playing while you use a tuner. With this tuner I can tune my guitars (acoustic and electric) quickly and easily and without disrupting our practices or performances.

This is a great tuner for acoustic guitars but, if you have an electric or a bass, get the Korg AW-1 Acoustic Chromatic Tuner instead. This tuner either tuned my electric guitar and bass inaccurately or it just got confused and didn't work at all. Very good for acoustics though.
