I agree with a lot of the other comments on this speaker. I believe that it is too bright and, when pushed, sounds a bit harsh and raspy. I recently replaced the stock (junk) speaker in my Crate v5 with a Weber alnico 10s speaker and the difference was amazing. Granted, it's still a crate v5 but for a 5-watt el84 tube amp, it sounds pretty smooth. The Weber is a great, high quality speaker made in the USA and is a far better speaker (I believe) than the Jensen. And its about half the price. If you're considering Jensen, or any quality speaker for that matter, take a look at the Webers first.

OUCH!!!...TOO BRIGHT

I have tried four these speakers in my Laney Class-A 30W (EL34 tubes) with the matching extension cab and then in my Fender Bassman 60W (6L6 tubes)and in both amps these speakers are too bright...it doesn't matter...single coil...humbucker...P90...all too bright with these speakers...I'd be interested in trying out Celestion's new 10" version of their famous G12M Greenback speaker...of course anyting would sound better then the Jensen P10R speaker

Good for valve junior

I loaded one of these into my Epi valve junior amp and it made a big improvement over the tone of the stock speaker (which really does not say much since the original speaker was horible). Now understanding that speakers and amps are all a matter of taste and perception, I do agree that these are pretty bright out of the box. However, I am a couple of years down the road with this speaker (moderate home use) and I believe that the shrill quality has definitly subsided. And that is why vintage speakers are so valuable, they are well broken in and sound smoother than ones out of the box. Dont be discouraged, these are good speakers with plently of mojo in them if you give them time.

To all the people who put these in their amp and say its too bright, that has to do with the amp's wiring and the tubes. It isn't just the speakers, these speakers are great!
