Handy, but probably unnecessary for most.

I use a partial capo quite a bit, so I checked out this specialized unit. In the end, I didn't bite, because my standard 6-string Kaiser works just fine by reversing it and stopping just the first five strings. It's possible that this method won't work with certain guitar necks, but if I really needed a specialized "Drop D" capo, I'd probably just buy a standard six-string and cut the notch out of it myself.

I hear these are going out of production. Shame because they are great and allow you to do the "drop D" thing in E, but still retain the notes on the low E string for barre chords and stuff with no changes in pitch, which you can't do with a standard detuned E string (to D or lower).

Highly recommend.
