I was introduced to these by my pastor as we were practicing the worship music. I ordered one that night. It has added an incredible depth to my playing, and I've written songs using the modified "open E" it creates. I never perform without one on each of my acoustics.

You cannot beat this little gem. It saves you re-tuning time, and gives you an open sound that is fuller and richer.... If you haven't experienced it, you're only cheating your-self and your listeners!!! ;-D

I caught a John Gorka concert and saw this little marvel of a capo. So simple and yet it adds so much color to the sound. So I bought it and have played with it alone as well as with a full capo to change keys.

Hint: put it just on the 7th fret and play with Amin/F/C chords and then strum. Then cover the open strings on the 3rd or 5th fret and strum - very cool - you are playing below the capo.

Then I caught the short cut capo videos that Kyser has online. Now I own a full 6-string capo, the short-cut capo, and a drop-D capo. Yes, sometimes I play with three capo's on my fretboard. I know, I could learn all the open tuning variations but when you learn the power of these capo's, then you don't have to learn open tunings or spend extra time tuning.

I have seen this Kyser Short cut advertised in the mag Acoustic Guitar and I was really intrigued. Then I found out that when in place it gives you a "version" of DADGAD open tuning but in E, meaning that you don't have to retune your guitar. Suddenly I can play one song in standard, slap on a capo and go into open tuning with Esus, fantastic! Then I go and pick up my latest copy of Acoustic Guitar and what do I find, but a version of "Nowhere Man" by the Beatles tabbed in . . . yes you've guessed it Esus using a Short Cut Capo - my world is complete. I have found the Holy Grail of Capo's - Get one right now, you won't regret it!

The capo is an amazing tool, giving you a droning sound on your chords. If you ever play alone this capo can make you sound very beefy and full. It comes with a chord chart because the positions change. It is shaped in a manner that the low E string is not touched so you have a stronger bottom and significant mid range. If you want to change keys all you have to do is add a full capo on the 3rd fret and you can be in G. The capo is very well made, Kyser is a great company and so far as I know they are the only ones to make this specific type of capo. I play for church and I know a great deal of the popular Christian artist use this on recordings. Not too expensive and worth the investment especially if you play solo here and there.
