Better than my LR Baggs RT and Para DI

I went to install the new Baggs M1A, so I setup my PA, and hooked up my axe (2002 D28) with the Baggs RT and Para DI. Same as before, I have to eq out a little brittleness (Which I think is exactly what helps this setup cut through a mix with electric guitars, bass, drums, etc..) I get some hiss, but really, it's less noise than the fan on the pa (its a old Sunn PA6520..honkin' old school amplifier) I have a problem with string balance, the high E and B are bigger than the rest. Workable, but not great. I take the axe apart, install the M1A, and put in the original Micarta saddle from the factory, it was the correct height without the RT underneath...To digress, I put in a Tusk saddle in when I put the RT in originally. I strung it up, and found that the acoustic sound was louder, but a little more 'round', or 'softer-sounding', but the Micarta saddle was a little too low ( i have no idea why) and i was getting string buzzz on the D string. So, I took it all apart, made a new Tusq saddle ( I bought a few for spares ) and put it all back together. Acoustically, the guitar was better than ever. Excellent action, big bottom, nice overtones, me happy. Installation was really easy, 10 minute job being slow and picky. A side note: the M1A is alot heavier than I expected it to be. It's a chunky little fella...
I plug it in to the PA, and right from the start, I am completely impressed. It sounds much more like a mic'd guitar than the RT. Very good string to string balance right from the get go, but i may tweak it later just for fun. NO hiss at all, even at gains that would blow my speaker if I strummed it hard. Overall, the setup has a little less gain than the RT and Para DI, but perfectly acceptable. I was able to turn my master level to ~ 2 o'clock, and my channel fader to ~ 1 o'clock before I drove the PA into clipping (my house was REALLY noisy last night!) and I couldn't get the setup to feedback standing IN FRONT of the speaker, feet away! My old setup would have been howling without a feedback buster in the soundhole!
I had to adjust my strap to make sure my pick doesn't hit the pickup while strumming and singing in auto-pilot mode, touch the pickup and you get a big knock through the pa. No problem. The little volume wheel on the M1A is nice to me... I am looking forward to using it to boost up for that big blues lead!
I am completely impressed all around, love the tone, great to be free of the Para DI, except when I want to use it. I love my Para DI for the tone control, but now I don't NEED it to get a good ( or any) sound out of my axe. Two thumbs up!
All I can say is wow...

This is my second LR Baggs M1 Active, and it makes any guitar sound amazing plugged in. The response that this pick up has to the body resonance is next to none. I have played through many of the other brands of pick ups, but none have matched the sound quality that the M1 Active has. It truly brings new life to your guitar.
Works Great !

I looked for about a year before buying, all I can say is that it works very well in my Guild GAD-30. It might cost a little more, but you are getting a very nice Pickup.

That this would not work well. It gives a FIRM tone that doesn't annoy. I have it on a very old and used Guild. MUCH better than any piezo or mic type. Feedback is better than any other type. I may start replacing all my pickups with this. It will not fit in some smaller holes.
Freakin Amazing

This pickup sounds better than anything I have ever used. LR BAGGS M1As are going to find their way into all my gigging guitars.
