Bridge Only

It's a great-sounding bridge even without the pickups, and its special piezo crystal employs 2 deflection modes to give you shimmering highs and rich lows. The output level is comparable to that of a stock Strat and it will plug directly into most guitar amps with fine results. Its tremolo has a Delrin arm bushing for silky-smooth operation. Mounts with six screws and will fit older Strats without bridge posts.

LR Baggs X-Bridge for Fender Vintage Strat Features:

  • Special piezo crystal with two deflection modes
  • Delrin arm bushing on trem for smooth action
  • Fits older Strats without bridge posts

I used this bridge to replace the cheesy bridge in a yamaha pacifica, using a similar bridge. I would have to warn that the allen screws that came with the bridge don't raise high enough for that type of guitar anyway. The yamaha screws fit this just fine without overstretching the wires. This makes a good change in overall sound, and also works great with distortion.

Excellent sound marred by poor quality control

I recommend the X-Bridge to anyone seeking a way to get new tonality out of a stratocaster. This bridge will give your guitar an acoustic sound, but it DOES NOT make your guitar sound like an acoustic or even an amplified acoustic guitar. The dynamic of a the solid body prevent that, no pickup on earth can make an electric sound just like an acoustic. Even so, it produces a very pleasing tone when used with a good preamp. I use the L.R. Baggs CTRL-X onboard preamp, and I'm very happy with the results. What I am not happy with is the QC. The first unit I received had scratches on the saddles and an obviously wrong action adjustmentjackscrew on one saddle. The second one was a standard strat bridge (two mounting posts) in a vintage (six mounting holes) box. The third one looked perfect until I started adjusting the intonation. All of the screws for that adjustment were #2 phillips except the B-string, which had a slightly flatter head and was a #1 phillips type. I kept this one. L.R. Baggs told me that they do not seal their boxes so that dealers can show the bridge to customers. Considering my experience, I do not recommend buying this item on-line. Go to store where you can check the bridge out before taking it home.

Yeah I installed this in one of my strats to blend acoustic and electric playing on one guitar. The pickup sounds amazing with acoustic 10s but the electric part of the guitar sucks in acoustic string on it so I had to stay with the DR MT10s on it and the acoustic out through a M108 to get better low repose instead of the highs of the nickel strings put out. All around it is a great product with amazing quailty.

I had this installed in my Mexican Vintage Strat, along with the Ctrl-X preamp, and I am thrilled with it. It required a bit of machining, but the result is well worth it. The Stratocaster's acoustic sound is surprisingly good, and the X-bridge captures it well. Moreover, it is a far superior vibrato mechanism than stock. With this bridge and a Teflon nut & string trees, I can bend or whammy as hard as I want without it going out of tune.

I was really surprised how great these sound. I had read a lot of good things about this, but it is far better that I thought it would be.

It doesn't really sound that much like an acoustic(sounds fairly similar to the output on an acoustic-electric), but it DOES sound great. You could probably use this to replace an acoustic on live stuff, but people would be able to tell the difference in tone.
