It Actually Sounds Like My Guitar!

I bought the iBeam Active system for my D-28 Martin to use at a summer camp where I was the music coordinator. This pickup blem me away. I put it on the bridge plate directly under my bridge peice. It gave my guitar full resonance with emphasis on the bass side just like a D-28 should sound. I have never had a pickup that I could use for bluegrass, country, and acoustic rock, but this pickup just sounded so much like my guitar and mixed well in intimate and large venues. I am also getting ready to put one in my Martin D-41. Great pickup!

Installed this on my Martin D-28 for use with my churhs PA system for worship. Sounds so amazing that I'll be looking for an amp so I can plug in at home.

This is a great sounding pickup. True mic sound, without problems of extra noise or feedback from a peizo or condensor mic onstage. Great sound. I will say that to cut thru a stage mix with a band, the Imix is really better. The undersaddle pickup gives the stable, level output, and the Ibeam makes your guitar sound like your guitar. For strictly recording or solo performance, the Ibeam is the ticket.

This pickup is really excellent. Just a few things to keep in mind about it. First this pickup is only as good as the guitar you install it in. Second, the guide doesn't really help, I find it is easiest to get it all hooked up and with it plugged in, position the pickup by tapping the saddle till you get your balance on each end of the saddle. I found the sweet spot to be forward toward the sound hole almost touching the X-Brace. I have installed this in two similar guitars with Cedar tops and one rosewood and one mahogany backed. What is amazing is they sound different. Also you notice a difference in playing with your fingers or a pick and a difference where you strum the guitar. Try that with a piezo. The third thing to keep in mind is that this pickup will change depending on what you plug it into. I have had great sound through sound systems, but electric guitar amps can sound boxy without eq. Last, if you are wanting a pickup that will cut through a mix then this may not be what you are looking for. That is my two-cents, happy strumming.
