The Sensor Red - World Class Tone. Lace has built these world famous patented pickups since 1985. Used exclusively by Fender© until 1996, these pickups have the same specifications with the same great tone. Red Lace Sensor pickups are designed to duplicate an early Fender single coil pickup. Crisp top end and bell-like tone, the Lace Sensor Red utilizes the latest technology to provide excellent tone for today's players.

The Lace Sensor Red single coil pickup has a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional pickups.

Unlike ordinary pickups, it generates 36 separate magnetic "sensing" fields that, in the areas where they contact the string, "read" the strings' vibration. (Regular pickups for the bridge position only generate anywhere from 4 to 12 fields).

The Lace Sensor Red guitar pickup also has Radiant Field Barriers: metal slides that frame the inner core of the Sensors and perform two functions. The first is to shield the Sensor from the outside noise and 60-cycle hum. The second is to produce broader, yet more concentrated, umbrellas of sensing field than standard magnetic pickups.

Less Noise, More Harmonics
As compared to standard guitar pickups, the Lace pickup reads a greater physical area of the string, while picking up less outside interference. This makes the signal-to-noise ratio nothing short of phenomenal for a single coil system. Also, a wider range of harmonic content is read by the Sensor, delivering a more complex tonal response.

Increased Sustain, Truer Pitch
Since it operates so efficiently, Lace Sensors can utilize much lower energy magnets than ordinary pickups, and this in turn brings about a whole new realm of properties. In regular pickups, the magnetic fields are so strong they physically dampen, or drag on, the strings' vibration, reducing sustain and actually changing the pitch. But in the Lace Sensor Red, string dampening is virtually nonexistent. This means your sustain is increased dramatically while the string holds its true pitch for the duration of the note.

I purchased this pickup because I wanted to beef up my 88' Strat Plus. My guitar came with a lace sensor gold in all positions. These pickups already sounded great, but I wanted a thicker and fuller sound out my bridge pickup. I got this pickup in about 3 days and installed it myself. The diagram you recieve is a little crappy, but you can go to their web site and get a better one. When I first played through it all I could say was "WOW". I'm very pleased with the sound I can get out of it. The sustain will last for days and you get a full, fat sound, even when palm muting. It doesn't have the same fullness of a humbucker, but it is an incredible improvement. It has a some extra noise, but it is minor compared to the normal 60 cycle hum. If you want a thick strat sound look no further.

I put this baby in my franken-strat because I just wasn't getting the output from the set of pickups that came in the guitar when I bought it. I liked this baby so much that I put another in the middle and a blue in the neck. Frankly, I was totally suprised by the clarity of this pickup. It can go from Malmsteen to Dream Theater to Pink Floyd. I've been playing through an outdated Korg AX1000G processer into a Fender Frontman 15W cabled to a Marshall 4X12 cabinet. If you want a searing solo, put the volume and tone on 10. If you want to roll off the volume and tone a little, it cleans up pretty nicely even with heavy distortion. I've never had any problems with this pickup, and would definitely replace it if something were ever to happen.

*THE* pickup I've always wanted

I just replaced my Fender Hot Noiseless pickups with the Lace Sensor Red in the bridge position of my FMT Strat, and I couldn't be happier.

I've used stock Fender pickups, Seymour-Duncan SH-6 and Hot Rails pickups and Fender Hot Noiseless pickups, and none of them compare to the Lace Sensor Red. This is *exactly* the tone I was always looking for -- mild enough to clean up nicely but hot enough to get a good crunch when playing Industrial or metal, thin enough to still sound like a Strat but meaty enough to still crunch when palm muting.

If you want a good, hot pickup that still sounds balanced with your neck and middle pickup, this is it. I can't say enough good things about the Lace Sensor -- it's just that good.

Does what it says, gives a hot humbucking sound in a single coil package. Solid clean tone with planty of headroom, also sounds great with heavy distortion.
