If you didn't really want a Strat...

I recommend these pickups for someone who bought a Strat, but didn't really want one. They're not "bad" pups, they just don't have any of the Strat sound. At all. Whatsoever. That being said, you will get a wide range of tones with this set. The blue sensor, used in the neck, is as smooth and warm as melted butter. The silver, used in the middle, almost wants to be an actual Strat pickup. It has the best definition of the three. The red sensor, used in the bridge, will give you a good tone for classic rock, especially the crunchier stuff. This set actually works really well when you pour on the gain. The sensors are very smooth and quiet, with a nice overdriven voice. For clean stuff, however, they ain't worth talking about. No chime, no sparkle, no glass, no "Strat-itude". The blue sensor is sort of boomy, the silver is a little flat, and the red just doesn't cut it. One final note about the red sensor: It's supposed to be very hot, but that is not the case. I don't notice any more output than from any other good Strat bridge pickup, and it definitely isn't as strong as a Hot Noiseless or an SCN bridge pup. I rated these sensors a 2.5 overall because they aren't very useful for my style, which doesn't depend on high gain very much. If , however, you like to pour the coal to your amp, you'll probably like them just fine.

Lace Sensor Trio work great

I ordered a prewired pick guard with the Lace - Blue, Silver and Red pick-ups. I was hoping the installation wouldn't require soldering, but it does. No big deal, it isn't rocket science. Once the pups were on and working, I found that all of the controls work great with a fair amount of range when the tone and volume knobs are adjusted. The five way slider switch works perfectly with no noise. The tones are as advertised. I still have the single pup sound, but a little more mellow when played through my Fender '65 Twin. The pick-ups fit perfectly and look good. I would rather have a choice on pick-guard colors, but it can be changed out with a little bit of effort. All in all, I am satisfied with the look and sound and I would recommend them to anyone looking to try something different.

Eh. . .

This pickup combination does not really work real well. The bridge pickup sounds pretty good, a real hot sound, and the middle pickup sounds pretty good, but the neck pickup is borderline horrible. Because of the vast EQ differences across the pickups, when you get a decent set up working with theBridge and middle, then flip to the neck, and it is solid mud. Even if you do get the bass set up right for that neck pickup, it's tone is just. . . Decent. Nothing real bad, nothing real good.
