It's not worth it.

I had to get back home and needed to transport my bass, so decided to get this cheap case. well, i'd strongly recommend to think twice before buying cheap, this case does have a good look, but is not worth the money - I got my p-bass moving and sliding in this case, so after I got home I found the D tuner damaged on a headstock. Save up and get something better.

I have the case for electric guitars, which was pretty good, but I got this case and opened it and immediately noticed some quality issues. First, there are 2 cuts on the corners of the case and the lid in those spots are broken (the shipping box was in pristine condition). I opened up the case and the storage compartment was not screwed in to the case. You could see the screw coming through, but it missed the compartment. I would have sent it back, but it was for my wife and she said she didn't care and didn't want to. I guess for the price, it still protects her bass. Now on the good side, the fit is excellent for her bass (Ibanez GRS 200) and there is plenty of room to store things as well.

Missing a latch...!

Be aware that the tweed version with 4 latches actually has just 3. Also I found the body space for the case inadequate and had to remount the storage compartment an inch farther up, not hard to do since the set screws are external. Kinda flimsy, wouldn't make it through an international flight, but for the price, pretty good.

Musician's Gear Deluxe Bass Case

I bought the tweed style case in 2006. It has been an excellent value, costing half what a name-brand case would yet providing far better protection than a gig bag. While not made quite like the name-brand cases, it looks good on the outside and has an attractive red plush interior with large accessory pocket. From what I read in other reviews, apparently the tweed is worth the extra cost, for both for style and function. For example, in the photos the tweed has 4 latches instead of only 3 on the black one. Also, the tweed case holds my Squier P-Bass Special just right, even with my strap and Dunlop straplocks installed. So perhaps there are inside sizing variations between the two types of cases, I dunno. If you don't seriously abuse your gear but you want something that looks good and provides good protection for your bass, I do recommend this case.

Most basses won't fit...

I recently got the black version of this case and I tried 5 basses:

-Fender Geddy Lee Jazz -Squier Standard Precision Special (PJ) -Ibanez GSR100 -SX Jazz copy -SX P copy

Not a single bass fits in this case. There is not enough room for the body. However, it is a very easy problem to fix. The neck rest can be unscrewed and pulled out, then moved up a few inches. You will need to redrill holes to set the neck rest again. I was able to make enough room for my Jazz basses to fit snugly, while the P-shaped basses shift around a little bit, but they're still seem to be safe and protected.

Aside from the fact that this case NEEDS to be modified to be used at all, it works well and seemed to be sturdy.
