I am back to shopping for a replacement because this music stand started slipping down. The knob could not hold the plate up. The screw that used to tighten and stand start loosening even when it was screwed tightly.

Great stand for the price

I got this stand as a replacement for a cheap portable metal stand that I had for a couple of years before breaking apart completely. This is a great stand, and it's durable. Be aware that the metal shelf in of itself is not that compact, but you're sacrificing some portability for durability. That is perhaps the only minor issue, but it's a great buy for the price, as others have said.
