Go with the Tweed!

I bought the tweed, based on a tweed that I bought earlier for an 87 Japanese Squier Strat. The only difference is that the nice red retro "poodle" lining isn't as 50's authentic as it was a year ago, but still is nice. I also have one for my Jazz bass. Yes the neck is up a bit high, but it's functional. And like most all center pocket cases, you can expect a little sliding action (that's why Fender switched to a non center pocket case design in '57). But I have to say that being the sucker I am for tweed and red plush lining, you'll never find one for this price anywhere else. Comparing apples to road apples, I've had this case side by side with my black tolex '65 Fender case, and with the lid open - both case's lids have the same flex, same thickness of plywood, same padding quality minus the leather ends of the '65 case. I've also got two Fender tweed "reissue" cases from the '80s (made by G&G I think) that are equal, except for the latches and ball end feet on the bottom. And if you've ever had an authentic old tweed, they lacquered the tweed and you've seen how those hold up. All cases in this style will hold up about the same, depending on how you treat them. If you're going to beat the snot out of 'em, then get an anvil style road case. Otherwise take care of it, and it should last as well as any other. Moral of story, Get'em while they're inexpensive!

I own this Musicians Gear Case

I own this. Expect to get what you pay for.
It will protect a guitar in a reasonable manner. However, if you own a Stratocaster, forget this case unless you put a towel or something around the body to keep the head piece from falling to the bottom of the case when you pick it up. The storage compartment is under the neck of the guitar so you have to take it out to get into the compartment. Also, the plush has some thin spots.
I was not impressed by the fit and finish of the case. The tweed is lumpy, from the glue underneath it, and the tweed has a small snag. There was also a piece of end stitching that was pulled, but I "fixed" it with a little super glue.
Like I said, it will protect the guitar. It is just not the best case, and it will not hold a strat without extra padding or some sort of added neck bracing.
All that being said, great thing is that Musicians Friend took care of my issues, and I now own a Fender case, which is head and shoulders above this one. It costs more, but it is well worth it, as the construction, materials, etc. are way better.

Doesn't fit Telecaster

My Telecaster (Squire) does not fit in the case. The well is too deep or the support bar is too high. The guitar sits in the case at an angle. It looks like it puts too much stress on the neck. I've had to put a folded towel under the guitar body to elevate it so the guitar sits flat. I keep a little towel in my case anyway, but not this way. So, this is a little disappointing. It is a beautiful case to look at. I guess I'll keep it.

I bought this for my Ibanez RG3EXFM, holds it well. No Smell, and if you are carefull, this case will most likely last you a while.
Will buy another.

doesn't fit

This was advertised as "fits most electric guitars", and I took a leap of faith hoping that it would fit my Dean XP flying V-shaped guitar. It's not even close, I didn't even need to open the case. Admittedly, my guitar is an unusual shape, but the case is way way off -- It's easily 6 inches too short, and not wide enough either! The product description should really be modified for this product to help avoid all the returned cases. Now I'm going to run out with my guitar and try to find a case locally that will fit.
