I have a 4 space, It holds a Hartke lh500 (Weighs around 30-40 pounds a behringer rack tuner and a vent cover. This isent the largest load and I feel like this case protects my gear but I wouldnt carry it around with the handles for any long amount of time all in all It feels thick and pretty sturdy and its worth what I paid, they give you screws and washers too! All in all a great unit, just dont trust the handles

I own the 6 Rack space, and it's alright. IT IS NOT MEANT FOR THE ROAD - I can assure you that. I'm a sound designer, and the few times I've done Location audio, it's held up but I feel like it's very fragile. If you are going to be moving the gear around a lot, don't, unless it's every once in a while, put it in your car, go somewhere, work go back home put it on top of the studio rack or something.

It's an economic piece of gear but if you are looking for something sturdy I do not recommend this piece. I've seen the smaller cases and they are fine, but the 6 and 8 space, they are alright, nothing amazing. they come with screws which is nice i guess.

one of my latches broke (or is wonky) but sometimes it won't latch well, that happened like a few months ago. but again, I'm a post guy, so the top and bottom are rarely so no need.

again, depends on your application.

cheers,

Certain parts will get loose but this thing will stand up to a lot of hurt. I've had this thing for the last six years (two space rack) cause it came free with my Ampeg b2r and I still use it to this day. It has never failed me. I mean you could spend the money and get something far better but if you're on a budget this will not disapoint, and trust me I've abused the heck out of this thing.

I have used 3 of these 8 space racks for the past 6 years. Each rack contains 3 very heavy Crown power amps and some processing gear required for each. I have not experienced one single problem with these racks. These have held up like tanks. The lids stay in shape, the rails are mounted firmly, the hardware doesn't budge and the price is right. Treat your gear right and it will serve you well. Buy these racks, take care of them and enjoy them. If you are busting these racks, you should not be handling gear. Treat these as you would a fine car, not a joy riding clunker that you roll over just for kicks and they will last as well as mine have.

I have owned the 3U for a year now and my band spent last summer on the road and we also played a good number of local/regional shows this winter and the rack has held up great. I think that that if you add more rack spaces than it may can become a lot less sturdy. The other reviews might be right to say that the 8U rack would serve better as a studio rack. I usually handle my own gear and I take a little extra effort to move mine gently, since the wood is 1/8" ply. Overall I am thinking about buying another one. Absolutely great for the price.
