The joint that connects the boom to the stand snapped with only a little jostling in storage. It's not really metal, some king of Chinese metal/concrete mix. What a complete waste of money.

I bought this stand with a bunch of other gear, to gear up for doing sound at a convention. I started running low on money for the gig, so I settled for this stand. I was Leary about it and I should have stuck a few bucks into another on... It lost function almost immediately. I had set it up for a drummer who sang backup vocals. The boom wouldn't stay in place - it would spin around even with everything tightened up! Hence, the mic would fall out and was useless to the drummer - to my embarrassment.

After the air cleared, I looked at it closer. I discovered that the counter weight was only for appearance - just cheap plastic. That was when I also was able to figure out the why it wouldn't work. It REALLY let me down! Don't get this stand!!!

This is a cheap throw away mic stand. I bought it because I was in need of one and it fit my budget at the time, but within a week the height adjustment stripped out and then about a month after that the swivel adjustment stripped out (it had been getting harder to keep it in place and then finally it stripped completely). Don't buy this stand unless you intend to use it only a few times or as a backup because it doesn't like constant adjustments and strips out very easily.

I like these things. Theone I own and use isn't good. But that is because I have abused it a lot and its gotten scratched. Plus, it sits in my dusty garage that provides home for my drum set.

But I played on stage at an event and the place provided microphones and microphone stands. My vocal mic stand was one of these and I loved how it felt.
