Let me start by saying that now that the Pearl 900 series hardware is available, you should look to that before the 70 series, because it's a much better product for a few more dollars.

If you look after it properly, it WILL last you a long time. Currently I'm using my B70W to mount my Mapex Saturn 14x11 tom and a 17" medium crash. That's a fair bit of weight (and dollars) hanging from such a humble stand. Mine holds up perfectly, and proper placement and set up ensures it's as stable as I'll ever need it. I've had mine for over 2 years and it's still functioning perfectly. Even the boom arm is still in great condition.

With that said, if you can afford a better stand, by all means go for it. But if you need a decent stand at a cheap price, this is the way to go. It's more than enough to hold a fair amount of weight without tipping or falling apart. It's all in how you use it.

If you plan on repeated set up and tear down the set screws WILL strip and the boom WILL slip. Spend the extra cash for the 1000 series so you don't have to keep replacing.

I have replaced this cymbal stand once already because the height adjuster stripped. The stand came with my Pearl set. Annoyingly, the boom has no grip or ridges casted into the metal to hold the boom in place. This is well below the level of much cheaper stands. Steer clear! Don't waste your money. The only thing I like about it is the 2 year warranty--Pearl's warranty department is AWESOME!!

I have 2 of these, had em for about 4 years and they're still holding up, the arms do slip but a little tape fixed that, if you take care of your equipment no problems will be had. mine hold 18" and 16" crashes, just use commonsense and dont expect this stand to hold a 22" ride fully extended. Its a good value, decent stand, and i think im going to purchase a 3rd.
