The Eliminator Demon Drive bass drum pedal was engineered to create the most seamless link between the player's musical ideas and his or her execution on a bass drum. Whether seeking to deliver lightning-fast blast beats or deep, rock-solid grooves, this Pearl drum pedal offers the adjustability to maximize your playing in any style.
Play a Pearl Demon Drive and the first thing you'll notice is its smoothness. The Demon Drive gets its incredible smoothness and speed through the use of ultra-precise hardware components. Self-aligning spherical bearings are used to insure the footboard and the Direct link drive are always in perfect alignment. Its zero-latency Z-Link Drive Shaft's U-Joints, and special super high-speed NiNjA bearings on the axles all work in perfect sync to create one of the smoothest and fastest pedals on the planet.
The most unique feature of the Demon Drive drum pedal is Pearl's exclusive Duo-Deck, the world's first convertible footboard. With a simple adjustment, the Demon Drive pedal can be adjusted from a traditional shortboard to a longboard pedal in seconds, offering a slightly lighter, quicker feel that is the preferred setup when speed is a necessity.
This bass pedal includes the world's first two-position Beater Stroke Adjustment and two-position Direct Link Adjustment. Both allow the player to create a slightly lighter or heavier feel of the pedal depending on their preferred setting. Adjusting the Duo-Deck in combination with the Beater Holder and Direct Link Adjustments yields 8 possible pedal configurations, allowing the player to truly create their ideal feel.
The Click Lock spring tension system prevents the tension knob from loosening. The Traction Plate, which has aluminum traction dots, is fully adjustable for the amount of slip or grip you want . Its footboard height-adjustment capability enables you to loosen and rotate the footboard to the desired height. And finally, the Pearl pedal comes standard with a Carrying Case to protect it from the wear and tear of travel.

Duo-Deck longboard— shortboard to longboard pedal in seconds

I bought this pedal about three weeks ago. I am extremely picky about my gear, and was a bit reluctant to pay such a high price for a new and unknown pedal. Let me just say now, "WOW"! This pedal is fantastic!
I opened the box to find the pedal well packaged and in a sturdy nylon gig bag. My first impressions were that this pedal is very well made, a lot of attention to the details, and a beautiful piece of hardware. The quality is outstanding -- this thing is tough as nails and the manufacturing is solid. A band mate helped me move my drums the other day and commented, "this thing looks like a Cadillac!" It does, indeed.
Playability -- the important stuff. Out of the box, the pedal played very well. After a few minutes of customizing the pedal, it was amazing. This thing is extremely smooth, very responsive, and the direct drive system provides instant response and feedback. When playing bass drum rolls and quick filler notes, there is no delay waiting for the pedal to bounce back and catch up to you, none at all, and I don't have the spring tension cranked all the way up either. Now, I'm no spring chicken (40) and I have some nerve damage in my right hip from an accident (bummer) which is exacerbated when I play for long periods of time. I have purchased and use pedal after pedal (Tama Iron Cobra, Axis Long Boards, Pearl Shifter Eliminator, Gibraltar Catapult) looking for the right one, and they all were good pedals, but never felt quite right. The Demon, after making minor adjustments, is as comfortable to play as driving a big brand new Cadillac! I can play for a few hours at a time with no discomfort at all -- unbelievable!!! That alone makes this pedal worth every dime of its Cadillacish price tag. It's so smooth and easy to play, I forget all about it, which means I'm focusing all of my energy on playing and not on equipment issues. Yeah, nice.
I also really like the fact that you can switch the double pedal to two single pedals. The manual shows you how, but the video on the Pearl website is super simple to follow.
I have to say I am thrilled I took a chance on this pedal.

When someone said a piece of hardware made them a better player. I always felt that the drummer makes the sound, not the drums. And as someone who struggled for years with double bass I had tried every pedal out there, including other direct drives. So far the eliminators where the best I found. But my gf got me the DDs for my bday and once I spent about 15 mins on them I was sold. Playing fast is effortless but there is so much control available as well. No slave lag. It has made some of my best ideas finally come to life. Plus I was able to convert the old elims into gajate pedals for MPO fun. All in all expensive, but I love it.

I went out and about looking for a new pedal. I'm traditionally a single-pedal player, and I was looking forward to trying the single demon drive out. The only one they had available for me to try was the double pedal which was hooked up with an electronic drum set. I've been playing for about 8 years and have not switched to a double pedal because I have always found that no matter what double pedal I used, the slave was ALWAYS lagging behind. Well, I tried out the double and was blown away. This is by far the best pedal on the market. There is NO lag on the slave pedal. The primary pedal has unbelievable response. You don't have to give it that extra punch when doing doubles or triples. This pedal is as literal as it gets. What you play is what you hear.

Great item and really comes to life after you've broke it in with changing the settings to your specific needs. One timers only get one chance to get it right, where as owners mess aroun with it until they have what they want--it is the last pedal I'll buy as it will be what I need till the day I die.
My only issue / suggestion:
Don't use the drum key to adjust any of the screws--you will only strip both screw and key. Use the designated wrenches given for maximum life of screw and key. They used a form of lock-tight (spelling?) which can easily cause stripping as well. Be prepared to deal with this.

these pedals cost a lot, but the quality is worth it. i've only had these for about a week and i've been able to play faster than i ever could. i was extremely skeptical, (i'm a DW fan) but my skeptisism was quickly put to rest after a few days of playing on these. Incredibly smooth, easy to adjust, and made out of top quality material. Not to mention they're very aesthetically pleasing as well. I've owned DW 9000's, Tama Iron Cobra's, and Pearl Eliminator's as well. Best pedal I've ever had.
