The Peterson TP-2 Tuner Pickup clips on any instrument and picks up the vibrations of the instrument. It is totally isolated from any other sound in the room. This allows tuning at any time, even during warmups! The large, cylindrically shaped jaw allows you to clip it on the mouthpipe or barrel of a flute or any round tubing on other horns. The jaw also has padded ends so that it clips on the bell of horns or on various parts of a stringed instrument. It has an 8' long, heavy-duty cord so that students can comfortably clip it on and not have to worry about pulling the tuner down to the ground.

seems much better than the Matrix MPU2

I don't know why these things are so expensive. But at least this one seems sturdier than the Matrix MPU2, which has a flimsy clip that breaks quickly, making the unit worthless.

I have a Boss TU-12 tuner that I use the built in mic to tune acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele and bass. I have never been happy with this tuners performance when used with the built it mic especially when tuning the uke. The needle seemed to wander and not always lock in.

However, that all changed when I plugged in the Peterson TP-2 pickup. The tuner is now rock solid! It locks in on all my acoustic instruments, even the uke!

If you aren't satisfied with your tuners performance when using the built in mic, the TP-2 is for you.
