Right-facing Front On Guitar, Back On Guitar, Side On Guitar In Use 1

The patented Planet Waves Dual-Action Capo is not your ordinary trigger-type capo. Compound action reduces the force necessary to open and close the capo. It also eliminates side-pulling the strings out of tune, which is prevalent on other trigger-type capos. Aircraft-quality aluminum construction adds virtually no weight to the guitar's neck when in use and the capo can be clamped on the headstock when idle. Simply adjust the tactile micrometer tension control so there is just enough tension to eliminate string buzzing and enjoy repeatable, in-tune performance at every fret.

Planet Waves Dual Action Capo Features:

  • Designed to fit most 6- and 12- string guitar necks with radiused fingerboards
  • Designed by Ned Steinberger

Very nice for its purpose...

I've had this capo for a few months now, and it serves pretty well. I've had a Kyser quick-change capo first, but I wanted this Planet Waves capo for its ability to adjust the tension of the spring. I use it with my Strat, and the Kyser is too tight for the lighter strings. I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be used with an electric because it's still quite a bit wider than it needs to be in relation to the electric neck. This means that I had to learn just the right way of slapping it on, but this isn't hard, and it works very well.

For acoustic, it works like a charm. It allows for you to adjust it for lighter-than-normal string gauges or heavier, I guess, where a normal Kyser or Dunlop would be too tight or loose.

Overall, it's a simple mechanism that works very well for an easy and straight forward purpose in my opinion. Get one!

Simply Put Perfect Capo

I have been playing guitar for years now. Usually when i have a capo they work for a while then wear out or break. This thing is built right. I read the other reviews and planet waves has actually improved the design with all heavy duty aluminum. The adjustable tension screw is awesome because the guitar literally will be in tune at whatever fret you capo. The trigger design is perfect because there is absolutely no string pull.

Exploded

Normally I like explosions. But after a few weeks of normal use, I went for this capo while some friends were over. When I squeezed the handle, the stem snapped off, releasing all the spring's energy like a rocket, across the room, past one of my buddys' faces, and ricoched off a wall, barely missing my aquarium, which most certainly would have shattered with a direct hit.

If you buy this, wear eye protection.

Great Idea - Lousy Execution

The dual action mechanism was broken when I took it out of the package. The consensus seems to be that it will break sooner or later. In theory, the design makes lots of sense; in practice, the Planet Waves engineers need to redesign or re-spec it.

It broke

I admit I am a capo junkie and have just about every capo designed and have modified severl for alternate tunings. I also admit I am one of the most devoted Planet Waves customers. However, I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the quality on this one. I have gone through two of these in a very short period of time. I have never had to return a Planet Waves product until now. It is a great idea but has one plastic part that broke in the same place on both capos. It may be that I am a bit heavy handed from playing the 12 string. If you do buy this product I will advise you to be very gentle when you tighten the tension. I think I will wait on this one to be updated. In the meantime I will continue to be a loyal Planet Waves customer and try just about everything they produce.
