I put this on my MIM Strat as part of an overall upgrade. This pickguard is great for the price. I really liked the matching back plate. It was a great replacement for the cheap looking single ply plate that came on it originally. The front pickguard actually comes with a thin layer of foil on the back that helps with interference! The quality of the finish was really good. I was worried at first b/c when I pulled the protective plastic sheet off some of the adhesive was left on the back plate, but this rubbed off after a couple of days. All in all I was very pleased with the pickguard. It gives the guitar a little more depth of look.
Colors Don't Match

I bought this pickguard in 3-ply B/W/B, because I wanted a "black on black" Stratocaster. I also bought the Stratocaster accessory kit (item #420543) so the pickups & knobs would match. It's a new (2009) Mexican made Strat in black with the maple fretboard.
The black pickguard is not the right shade of color... it appears lighter. Like a very, very dark grey or something. On the other hand, the pickup covers, knobs, etc. that came with the accessory kit (sold separately) DO match the guitar's finish perfectly. I'll be looking to replace it with a genuine Fender pickguard soon (if I can find one), because it just doesn't look "right."
The pickguard holes lined up, and the pickguard fit in with little hassle. But, like some reviewers have mentioned, the back plate was too small.
great product for 2002/2003 MIM Strat

I own a 2002/2003 made-in-mexico standard strat. I purchased this product from my local guitar center and it fit perfectly and looks great. The screw holes all lined up perfectly and the pickguard has decent shielding on the back to reduce hum. The pearloid is beautiful.
However, I would always recommend purchasing a pickguard in person to make sure it will fit on your guitar. Older Fender models may not fit perfectly with this product as other reviews mention.
What stratocaster was THIS made for?

So I ordered the Tortise for a strat I saved from being junked. Now that being said this guitar is around 15 years old. I personally didn't think fender changed stuff like this over time but man. None of this stuff fit. I didn't want to pay for the Fender brand and not even get the back plate. So this looked like a great deal.
So I go out into my shop and get to work. After the hard parts none of the holes on the pickguard liked up. I realized this is due to the neck cut on the pickguard being FAR to shallow. So I took a a box cutter and whittled away at it until it fit. You can't tell and it looks like a million bucks. But honestly I don't expect the average person to know how to do this kind of stuff. It looks great now. The backplate however, is about 10 times too small and the string holes wouldn't line up if it did fit. So...that was a waste.
In all it's a nice product at a great price. And MAYBE it was just my guitar being too old of a model. But I'll be ordering genuine Fender parts from now own.

I purchased and installed this pickguard a few days ago to my Fender Standard Stratocaster [Mexican made] and I am completely satisfyed with this product. This pickguard is thicker [4 ply] than the original one my guitar came with. The screw holes for the pickguard matched up perfectly, and same with the openings for the pickups.
There was only one flaw with this product, and its the back plate. The screw holes match up perfectly but the string though holes are slightly off for the last 3 strings, meaning you would have to take off the backplate in order To change strings.
