Light Hitters Only

In the praise & worship group I play in, it's always a challenge to create energy while not creating more volume than the setting can handle. I tried Cool Rods after having already used Promark's Hot Rods with some success. The Cool Rods simply did not hold up for me. The tendency for the dowells to splay out and brake off was much greater with Cool Rods. I've gone back to using brushes on the very soft stuff and continue to use Hot Rods for the moderate volume songs and have started using Lightning Rods for the somewhat louder things. But in fairness to ProMark and because I really like the other Rods, Cool Rods may be exactly what you need if you have a natural light touch.

Just What The Congregation Ordered

Playing Christian contemporary music for more than 10 years now has had its challenges - especially when I'm an advocate of acoustic drums and cymbals. Cool rods allow me to play when real playing is needed, yet not over power the rest of the band and especially the congregation. Have sat behind electronic drums and admit they are great for practice, but I still prefer my great acoustic set for the true sound and variation that cannot be duplicated electronically. Great job Pro-Mark

Almost Great

I got a pair of these rods two weeks ago and I'm sorry to say that one of them has already broken all the way through. I didn't play especially hard or abuse them more than expected, they just started breaking down. While still in good condition they did play really quite well and were nice and quiet, with some good potential for different techniques, they just didn't last. If you can find them cheap, I would advise purchasing, but down spend too much on them.

I love them!!

These "sticks" are great. I play in a jazz combo band with them, and if I'm using normal sticks, I overpower the band so much, even playing soft. These sticks keep me in line. Although by them selves, they are a little to soft, but a little bit of decerative tape helps it out greatly. I highly recommend them. Also, you wouldn't think it, but these things have great features, experiment with them to find great little licks and things to play. The only drawback is that if you play with them too hard, they break easy. So be gentle and they will NOT let you down.

Once you drum with them for a half hour or so, you start discovering various sounds you can create with these. Very interesting on the cymbal. They stay louder on toms and hi-hat than on snare drums. They are great for at home play as well as on small stage with acoustic instruments. Be gentle though. Don't hammer them.
