I just got some of these coated emperors for all my drums. Dont get me wrong they sound very good but the coating starts to come off very quick. It has not changed the sound yet but I am kind of dissapointed in the coating. I have heard that Remo changed the process that they coat these drum heads.

Anyone who's ever tried to tune an 8" rack tom will appreciate this head. I had removed my 8" tom from my kit because of the difficulty tuning it. Decided to give it one more chance using Remo Emporer coated and I'm glad I did. I had it tuned to my satisfaction in five min. You'll need to replace the resonate head as well...What a differance. Try this before you discard that 8"er.

I started out as more of a Evans guy. But after using these Emperors, I'm never going back to Evans. They produce a very bright and open tone that is just perfect to my satisfaction. I'm getting the impression that they are going to last a very long time. The only thing that would bother some people is that Remo Coated drum heads, such as the Emperors, mark up very easy when hit with a drumsick. But hey, sound over looks, right? Anyways, to sum this all up. This is a amazing drumehead that I plan to always use. I would highly reccomend this to anyone. If John Bonham used it, I'm sure it's good enough for you.

What can you say about this head? If it was good enough for Bonham, it's good enough for you. This is the classic. I've never had an emperor coated that didn't sound great and last forever. Call me old school, but I just don't get the same tones and warmth out of Evans or Aquarians that I get from my good ol' Remos. Plenty of people will argue, but for my money, you just can't beat the original weatherking. Ambassador or emperor depending on what you're playing, but these are the only heads I recommend to my students.

If you think this head sounds bad...you really don't know how to tune a snare drum...

Great head no matter the tuning range (Even though I would suggest the low to mid-range for a pretty powerful crack and yet plenty of body to go around)

...And I thought Evans had it down to a science...
