Never have I used flatwounds on a bass "guitar" before. The last time I felt flats was in high school , When I played double bass in the jazz band. I've played all genres of music my whole life, but deem myself a metal head. Alwsys loved Steve's sound. Needed a new set of strings on one of my old "p's" , thought I'd give 'em a shot. WOW! Changed the sound and feel TOTALLY from the RS66's that it had on it. Had to change the setup some to compensate for the heavy guage, but well worth it. However, I would not recommend them for replacements on just any bass if you're used to rounds. You might be upset. But if you like Steve Harris' sound, and own a P- bass, BUY THEM.

no more blisters for me

For years now I have struggled with blisters on my right (plucking) hand since I play metal with my fingers...but no more! They are so smooth and while a heavier gauge than I normally play, still very easy to play. I can get the punchiest tone ever with these strings, and also an amazing "piano" tone.

I play bass for a progressive extreme metal band, and I bought these to brighten up the tone on my 1000 dollar fender precision bass and I am aboslutley amazed not only do I have a killer bass but now I have killer strings and a killer sound.

Best strings ever!

For a couple years I have been really into Iron Maiden, and been amazed by Steve Harris. After I saw them live at the beginning of the summer, I started playing bass about twice as much. My old strings were old, sticky, and not holding up. So I bought these and they are SO worth it. They felt like butter when I first picked them up; I was in awe. I wasn't expecting them to be as nice as they are. They are so smooth and easy on your fingers, I haven't gotten any blisters since I started using them. That is what's best about these strings -- they are super smooth and easy to get around on. Up and down the neck, all over the place. . . it's no wonder it's all Steve wants to play!

There is only one bad thing I can say about these, they are huge! I have a hard time playing quite as fast as my thinner strings but these feel so good and I'm adjusting to them quite quickly.

Get these strings!!

I have these strings, and they sound absolutely beautiful. They have a great feel as well, however the only downside is the size. These things are thicker than cello strings. I play prog-rock, so my music technically challenging. I find it incredibly difficult to play my parts well. If your parts are relatively relaxed, I would suggest these in an instant, however if you have the same problem as me, find something lighter.
