I installed a ECC83 Ruby Tube in both my Art Levelar Compressor and ART Preamp. Replacing the Chinese 12AX7 factory tubes. As other reviews stated, it turns both units into a quite and clean sound. No distortion or harsh noise. I would highly recommend this product.

I decided to get these after reading that they are actually lower gain JJ/Tesla's. I have the high gain JJ's in one of my 100 watt tube heads and have always like the tone but I find that when I'm playing with high output pickups they are a bit harsh. I put these in the preamp of my Laney VH100, replacing the stock TAD's and there was a huge improvement right away. The clean is cleaner with a softer attack and the high gain channel is open and powerful but doesn't have the overly sharp peaks or fizziness I was getting. Still very punchy but in a smoother way. I would definately consider these if you have high output pickups and and a high wattage amp.

I bought these to replace the older ones in my ValveKing 212 combo. Everything sounds nice and all that, but I wasn't so fond of finding out that they use (or just used) JJ tubes with a 'Ruby' sticker on the side of them. I know JJ tubes are good, I have both 12Ax7 and EL84 tubes made by JJ in my Blackheart little giant amp (sounds greater than the stock chinese tubes) In the end, I wasn't to happy to pay the extra 3 clams to have a sticker on my tubes.

I just installed the Ruby Tubes ECC83 (12AX7A) into an ART Tube preamp (a cheap preamp with a Chinese 12AX7 standard equipment). The Ruby Tubes ECC83 turns the preamp into a quiet and beautiful sounding unit. The Chinese tube was harsh and noisy. The only negative comment about the Ruby Tube is it's low gain and it won't go to any significant level of distortion in the ART Tube preamp. It says in the description that it is low gain, and that is true. So if you want a tube to drive to heavy distortion, it won't do it in the ART preamp. For clean sound, the Ruby Tubes is a huge improvement. I'd recommend this tube to anybody who wants a better sound out of their 12AX7.

I put this in an Ampeg J12-T(had stock sovtek's) and a Peavey Valve King head(stock it had a mix one these and 2 electro harmonix).

In both amps, especially the Valve King, these tubes made a significant noticable tone improvement. Warm shimmering cleans, better distortion and in between are the best blues sounds. I also [it ome in my old digitech RP7 valve FX, it even gave that a breath of new life.

Definately recommend these bang for buck AX7 tubes. Good replacement choice for any 12AX7 ECC83S or 7025 socket.
