I've been a fan of SKB for years now, but this design on this case is absolutely horrible. I bought one of these for my Tele and I've only took it out on I'd say between ten and twenty gigs. I have a huge crack under one of the latches. I think those Godzilla size latches are to blame. The latches are way to big for any case. They stick out and get caught on just about eveything they come in contact with. You can't put any kind of weight on them, (as in loading your equipment into what ever vehicle you're using). I take the utmost care of my equipment and realize that things happen on the road. but according to SKB's website they do not cover normal wear and tear. Well to me this case isn't worthy of even carrying your guitar in just around town. I'm not knocking SKB, but they need to dump this design. I considered buying one of these for my 335, but after what happened to my Tele case I'll go with Gator next time. I hope the guys at SKB read this. You've got excellent products but this one is gonna come back to bite you in the rump.

I just received my SKB 66. From the outside the case looks to be up to the task of medium road work but I wouldn’t use it for heavy travel. The interior is good and my guitar (Shecter Hellraiser FR) fits snugly in place. There were some quality issues that I had to fix though. The first thing that needed attention was the strap that keeps the lid from falling open. On mine the length of the strap was too short and the lid had a tendency slamming shut so I had to lengthen it. Also the glue that is used to keep the foam in place was useless and didn’t stick. I had to scrape all the old glue off and I used 100% silicon calk to hold the foam in place. The keys for the lock were also missing and I had to call SKB to obtain a pair. Overall I would say that this case was a good buy and even though there were some quality issues they were easily fixable.

This case is a good value for the money. If you go to their website, they list what guitars fit which cases so its a no brainer. No guessing. My only complaint is the smell. You have to leave this case opened for about 2 weeks to let the odor escape. Im guessing it is either from the carpet or the glue used. Other than that, it does what it is supposed to and does it well. I use it for a Strat and a Schecter C-1 Classic, both fit well and dont move around.

Just to start off, I now have about $2000 worth of gear protected by SKB - my guitar, amp, and pedalboard - and I'll never look back. This was my most recent purchase, and before ordering I called SKB to ask a few questions. I asked if my lifetime warranty would be void if I painted my case. The rep said no, and suggested a brand of spray paint for me to use! I was amazed. Anyway, the case is awesome, but SKB is even more awesome - Fits my tele like a glove. If you want a case that'll literally last for a lifetime, this is the one for you.

It is relatively light, withstood the rigors of airport handling on an east to west coast round trip, and comes with a TSA approved lock. Bought a second one after this initial test.
