Poor quality even for China

I just bought this MT9000 and have found numerous flaws in a few hours. It has a lot of features but that won't count for much when you can't use it for one of the following reasons. Your battery will likely be dead when you go to turn it on because the power switch is SO easy to activate even while the unit is stored in its soft case. There is no auto-off feature. The battery compartment lid is extremely flimsy and sure to break soon. The case is flimsy and when I tried to pull the battery cover off the case peeled open 1/8 inch with little pressure. The built-in stand on the back is as strong as maybe a ridged potato chip and also sure to break very soon. Also, I compared its accuracy to my other tuner because it seemed to me it too easily locked onto with "two green lights" for a "perfect tune" when I used it. When I compared it to my old tuner I proved this was true. Even when my other tuner was reading a tiny bit sharp or flat this tuner would lock on telling me I was tuned. There is also no backlighting so using this thing in a dimly room would be difficult. I am going to return it tomorrow and look for something built a little better.

If you have one I did come up with an idea to save batteries. When you switch if off, leave it in "TONE" mode so it will send out a tone if you switch it on by accident.

Pretty good...

I have used this tuner/metronome/tone generator both as a student and as a music educator. I have had it for about 5 years and it still works. However, the battery cover did break off. I have found the output to be a little weak especially when trying to use the metronome in groups (even when plugged into speakers). The tone generator is useful but only in a pinch. The tuner is accurate and when used with a petersen piezo pickup is even better. Lastly the power button is a little too sensitive and I have more than once found the batteries dead because of this. All in all, this is a pretty good tuner for the money and a great buy if you want an all in one device.

Good but quality suffers

I bought this tuner online after seeing that my band director had the same one used during practice, and it arrived with a faulty battery lid, which, flimsy in the first place, didn't fit correctly. Luckily, I received a replacement tuner without having to ship the old one back, so I've been using two of these for quite some time. At first, I was quite thrilled over the great features, although the tone feature, which basically sounds out notes, and the metronome could have been much louder. The tuner itself was nice, although fairly approximate, as the "in tune" green lights came on even when I was a bit sharp or flat according to other tuners. So for extreme fine-tuning, this tuner doesn't quite do the job, but to most ears, you should be able to get away. Fast forward a couple months, and I start noticing issues with note-pickup. I would play a note, and the tuner would jump drastically between several different notes. I've been playing my instrument for a very very long time, so I know what my notes should generally sound like. Well, I go to the keyboard and hit a note. The tuner doesn't even register anything. I've had this issue since then, and it's still plaguing me years later. I never went out and bought a new one because I decided that I could deal with the inconvenience. And when I'm at home, I use an internet tuner, which at least picks up my notes. Every time I go to tune my guitar with this, I have to hit a string millions of times before the tuner actually picks up any reading at all.

So the bottom line is: Yes, this tuner packs a lot of punch in a small package, and the built-in stand in the back is very convenient, but this MT9000 doesn't last at all. Plus, I'm not too fond of the power button. I understand I'm supposed to carry the tuner in the protective case, but since the tuner isn't even really working anymore, I just stopped. With the tuner in my purse, I find that the power button's size and location allows for accidental turn-ons, so the next time I want to use the tuner, it's out of batteries. Perhaps a slide switch would have been better, but since I'm not using the case, I'm not holding this against Sabine at all. Before the note issues, mind you, I took real good care of this tuner. Also, the battery compartment could use some work.

Best Case Sized Tuner

I bought my first MT-9000 about 5 years ago. I will be ordering my third today. I handed down my first to my oldest son when be began playing guitar, and I have just handed down my second one to my youngest son who is also learning to play guitar. Both of these tuners are working as good as when they were new.

The tuner is the most accurate tuner I have ever owned, and I find the metronome to be an indispensible tool for my guitar practice. The case is an added plus for keeping the unit looking good, and the display is big enough that I can read it without my glasses. Oops, I'm starting to show my age. Time to go.

I have used this tuner during my orchestra class. It has never failed me. I especially like how it has three-in-one use and how it is very easy to use. This tuner is used all day by many band students and musicians and is still in top shape. This would be my choice in choosing a nice tuner.
