Seymour Duncan Blackouts are 9-volt active neck and bridge humbuckers that provide more extended frequency response with less compression. Seymour Duncan engineers have captured the tone players want in an active design with the benefits of balanced inputs.

Not only do Seymour Duncan Blackouts active humbuckers have less hum than most active humbuckers, they also have more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, the Blackouts have more tone than most active pickups. Players will find far fewer problems with hum, especially near computer monitors and fluorescent lighting.

Blackouts come as a two-pickup set of neck and bridge humbuckers. All versions come with all necessary mounting hardware, including pots, jack, and a battery clip.

Put it in the cart and give your tone a big boost.

Active pickups for those that don't like actives.

I replaced the Duncan Distortion and 59 that I had in my Ibanez SZ520 with the Blackouts. Very nice swap. These pickups have the warmth and openness of passives with the higher output and lower noise of actives. Clean sounds are just fine, with no breakup. They aren't brittle at all. Very warm and natural sounding. I also found that the kit included plenty of wire to run the grounds and for the jack. Wiring diagram included was very helpful.

If you want active pickups but aren't thrilled that EMG's don't take your guitar's natural tone into account, then these are the pickups for you. I will be replacing the stock pickups in my Ibanez SZ720 with these as soon as I can.

I had these put into my custom 24, they are crazy noisy, tons of buzz and hiss, which is weird because they are suppose to be quieter than emg's... they sound brutal though, they have so much output, my plexi-ish 'crunch' channel is more of a 'crush' channel with these, you definitely will not need any kind of overdrive pedals with these pickups.

Great product but instructions need an update

I love the full range of tone these provide. This is a good pickup. Be prepared to take some alternate installation steps. If you are installing them yourself pick up some extra wire to run the grounds as instructed. (if your looking for the white and bare wire, strip the black wire to find it) I also see on other sites that the bridge and neck pickups have unique stats... a label on the pickups would be nice to tell which was which. The installation instructions should be updated to match the product.

I own both emg's and blackouts. I can in all honesty tell you I love them both in different ways. I have the blackouts installed in an Ibanez RGR421EXFM with drop B tuning. It's the most Heavy thing i own, and thats what it does best. On the other hand I have the EMG 81/60 in a Ltd fx400 in drop C tuning and it sounds great. If your stuck between the two, I would go with the blackouts.

ok for a long time i thought the EMG zakk wylde set was the best pickup set on the market, hands down, well then i started getting into seymour duncan passives, and quickly realized that the EMG's had no tone, so i stuck with the passives for a while. then seymour duncan came out with these, id always loved the sustain and high output of active pickups, but i loved the tone of passives better, well these have both. they have screaming sustain from high output, but also have that warm buttery tone you get from passives....simply put these are the best pickups on the market. i had them professionally put in, because between 2 kids, a wife, a fulltime job, and a gigging musician, i just didnt have the time...so i dont know how easy or difficult the installation was, but i do know that these pickups sing, its like aretha franklin compared to david hasselhoff (aretha being these, and hasselhoff being pretty much everything else) but yeah anyways, they are awesome and are cheaper than emg's, a definantly awesome buy. oh by the way i installed them in a Jackson RX10D.
