Now some useful information for the potential Buyer: This set of pickups is capable of pretty much any "tone" you want to have. Playing Fusion I need to have that range from Country to Death Metal...without the Mud. This set will give you a range of tone MOST guitars don't have.
Because of the output, versatility, and range these pickups possess I highly suggest you do a little homework on "dialing" in tone and checking out SDs site to get a variety of wiring options. Most bad reviews on this come from folks who just dropped them in and expected to sound like EVH. So be prepared to drop and raise the Pups and poles to your liking. It will take a lot of twiddling to find that sweet spot for you but it's worth it. And they won't de-strat your strat!!!

Too Much Fun...

I placed these into my 1990 American Standard Strat and have not regretted it once. The guys at Seymour helped me get the wiring just right with only one tone and one volumn knob (both push-pull). I can get coil splits, bridge neck, etc. 15 different combinations in all.
Here's what's important: GET THEM SET TO THE RIGHT HEIGHT. At first mine were set too high and were all muddy. After dialing them in, they're awesome. The difference in tone from one setting to another is crazy cool. Sounds like I have so many guitars all built into this one axe. Silky smooth blues leads or broken up rock sounds, so nice.

Flexible Offering

This particular arrangement is unbelievable in its flexability. I have played blues, rock, jazz, and all of them come out great. I have played in a cover rock band with a girl singer, focusing on the girl side of things, and it allowed me to back thing down and when necessary stand on it and screaming tones! I put these in a MIM strat and that was practically a throw away and now it is a key tool in my arsenal!!!!

Release the Hounds

I've always liked the feel of a strat, but hated the single coils that came in the more affordable standard series. These pickups fixed all of that. I put these in my MIM project and they've made all the difference. Do not be afraid to set the JB JR and and little 59 up for coil tapping. You'd be suprised at the amount of access you can get without sacrificing quality. If I had to pick a favorite in the set, it would be the little 59. It responds to high amounts of gain very well and you can get that apocalypse sludge Smashing Pumpkins sound with great ease with it. The duckbucker pulls its weight with the single coil quack that you hear about even though I don't use the middle position all that much. It is good to know it's there. The JB Jr handles very well at the bridge position distorted, but it should be noted that it does carry a wonderful clean tone. Do not get these expecting to get single coil sound with no hum. That is not what these are for. These will change the way your strat sounds to more of a double fat strat.
Also, have some super glue on hand if the pickups slip out of their covers. Be sure to check for this before installing. That's the only reason these get a 4.5. Otherwise, it's a great set up. Enjoy!
