Professional sound for all

After soldering the pickups in my SG Epiphone, I plugged it in my Pandora, dialled a clean sound and I was immediately struck that I had the sound of the arpeggio in "When the smoke is going down", from Scorpions (with the selector switch in the middle position).

Then I went on Youtube, listened to that tune, and I got back to my guitar to plug it into my amp, an unexpensive combo, but a very good one that I bought only after trying many others and reading many reviews over several months. Well, I did have the same sound as in the Scorpions song; a much more experienced musician confirmed it. Through the amp's overdrive and through my pedals' overdrive and distortion, the sound is just as brillant.

These pickups give you a very professional sound, even if you have amateur gear. They also make the guitar pots perform much better. I thought I would have to replace them but they were fine, only the inferior stock pickups made the pot variations too abrupt. The ideal sound made me feel a better player and made me play more. Success.

I wired them up on my old samik radio 10 (my first guitar) with a 5-way super switch and 500k push/pull pot - and I cannot describe the difference! I have 9 different tone options! I have run them series, parallel, in phase, out of phase, coil tapped, and everything in between!! And they out perform in every one! I have gotten everything from searing harmonic distortion to clean single coil clarity out of these babies and everything in between.

If you are thinking about buying these ... stop thinking and just buy them! you won't regret it, it promise!

Great pick-ups, but note one thing on installation

These are great pickups - the tone is incredible. I installed these to replace the stock pickups on my Carvin SC90 with a Koa/Maple body. It was my first pickup replacement, so I learned as I went along. The one problem -- as noted by a prior reviewer -- is that the wiring diagram/schematic and accompanying instructions do not indicate that the red and white wires must be soldered together on a standard setup. It is easy enough to do, but without that step they sounded terrible. Thanks to the review posted for this advice.

Bought these about 6 months ago and I have never been more satisfied with anything I've ever bought. I installed these on my Epiphone Les Paul and it sounds better now than any gibson I've played. Buy these and your guitar will sound like a dream.
