Certainly if you're shopping for a single-coil sized humbucker you've seen the others-JbJR and HotRails Etc. Take it from me I have those 3 I feel this is the best of the bunch. It has the overall best BALANCED tone and doesn't change the character of your guitar. You can't clean up the Hot Rails and you can't tame the JbJr but this one gets the tone just right and doesn't make your strat pretend its something its not.

Bought one on sale for the bridge pickup in my American Standard strat. Installation was easy, but make sure that you download the instructions from the SD website that explain how to maintain the quack setting in position #2 (reverse the black and green wires). The instructions that come with the pickup don't mention that.

This pickup is quite bright and I'm glad that I didn't get go with the hot rails pickup. I wouldn't recommend it with a clean sound as it lacks a little body, but add even a little overdrive and it really comes to life. I now have a true lead pickup and it is a marked improvement over the stock single-coil bridge pickup.

I reliced a 2002 highway strat and dropped one in the bridge and man what a growl. Better than the humucks in both of my other american deluxes. On a side note when attaching the neck back on my strat I resanded and wood glued it too and man the susain is at Gibson status. Save your investment and buy American. I play through a Voodoo modded Marshall JCM200 TSL100 with Greenback 4x12 and its untouchable in tone! My fingers may suck but my ears dont!!

I did something different with this pickup than was probably intended Its supposed to used on a strat but I used it to replace the single coil in my Gibson melody maker (I thought that the one single coil on it was a little thin) Now it sounds more full and less harsh. It sounds a lot like a strat with the a humbucker on in the bridge position. I would recommend it to anyone trying to get a fuller sound out of a melody maker and I imagine it sounds great in a strat or any other guitar with a single coil pick up.
