Dimebag Darrell

The Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker is an electric guitar pickup that helps you make your own metal massacre tone. It uses a powerful ceramic magnet coupled with stainless steel blades to generate a take-no-prisoners attitude. The secret to Dime's crunch is the small amount of metal mass in the core of the pickup. This allows both high D.C. resistance and a high resonant peak. The result: a high-output, aggressive humbucker with lots of treble bite and clarity, combined with punchy bass response and exceptional dynamics. The SH13 Dimebucker is perfect for hard rock and heavy metal.

Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker Pickup Features:

  • Powerful ceramic magnet coupled with stainless steel blades generates take-no-prisoners tonality

I went to my local guitar shop looking for an L500R. They didn't have any but the owner insisted that I try a Dimebucker. I figured it was just a copy of the L500R. I got it and wired it into my trusty Ibanez and was a little disapointed at first. I didnt like the tone. It has too much treble and too crunchy for style of music my band plays. Its not an L500R. If you want to sound like "PANTERA Dime" dont buy this. If you want Damage Plan Dime then get it. That being said, once I realized that I started changing all my settings around realy started to love this Pup. Its one of the hottest passive pups i have used. It sounds killer clean and under high gain you can squeal harmonics like mad, but it realy shines when you lay down some classic riffs wita a little dirty overdrive. You can shread on this dont get me wrong, It just dosnt have the lowend I was looking for. It may just be my set up. I ended up putting it into a Mexican Strat and couldnt be happier with it. Again, If you want the pantera sound Buy an L500R. If you want a great Pup with a high output, great cleans and crisp solos under high gain, then buy this.

Okay I only had this pickup for a short time, but let me tell you; this thing has plenty of sustain and it has a good amount of bass! It is super good on clean suprisingly and the distortion muders! It's a kick butt pickup. I even got it coil tapped and it still sounds good! So overall don't look passed this and just get it! Even I had a problem getting it, because some people said it had too much treble, but just get it! It Has a punchy bass too!

This pup kicks butt

I put one of these into my '73 SG to replace a very old DiMarzio Super Distortion that started squealing. The sound is amazing. I installed it with a switch to split the coils and another one to phase the pup with the original Gibson neck pup. The tonal variety is amazing now. Used by itself in dual coil mode it kicks butt, allowing all kinds of pinch harmonics, etc. In single coil mode it thins out nicely and with both pickups gives great rhythm tone. I highly recommend this beauty. My SG may become my go-to axe again.

I dropped this pickup into my Ibanez JTK1 Jetking, because the stock Inf. 3 and Inf 4s weren't really doing it for me. It was a bit of an adventure, considering this was the first time I'd ever installed a pickup. However, I couldn't be happier with the results. A friend of mine who played in a local band around here told me it was the loudest passive pickup available, and at the moment, I believe him! Distorted, this thing produces vividly rich harmonics, tons of headroom, and a very distinct bite. Clean, it is very beefy and may have a tendency to break up, but that all depends on your amp and settings. My guitar has a mahogany body, which compliments this pickup nicely. However, one of my other friends had a Jackson Rhodes, and it sounded really thin and weak, but we determined that this was because of the alder body and the low body mass. The Rhodes guitars do have very small bodies. And I don't suggest you wire it to coil tap. The infamous single coil hum turns into a frying pan when in split mode.

I just got this pup put in my Gibson sg and wow what a differece it made. The pickup is way worth the money and is great for the rock/metal musician. it has great rhythmn and is just right for lead solos. I love seymour pickups and this one has definetly been the best pup Ive ever put in one of my guitar.
