The Seymour Duncan SH-15 Alternative 8 Humbucker is a high-output electric guitar pickup with an Alnico 8 magnet for extra output. Perfect for all rock styles and great for use with high gain amps.

Description
Seymour Duncan's first production guitar pickup to use an Alnico 8 magnet, the Alternative 8 starts with hot coils wound for maximum output. With the addition of the Alnico 8 magnet, output is enhanced with a huge, punchy sound, full of fat mids and present upper-mids. This is a dynamic guitar pickup that doesn't get sizzly or dark like some high-output ceramic magnet electric guitar pickups.

Complete setup
The Seymour Duncan SH-15 Alternative 8 Humbucker Pickup recommended for the bridge position. Matches great with a moderate output neck pickup like the SH-1n '59 or the SH-2n Jazz Model. Pairs well with a distortion pedal like the SFX-05 Lava Box or the SFX-08 Power Grid distortion.

Big full sound

Recently purchased a couple of Epiphone '66 Ltd. Ed. SGs from MF and the bridge pickups were quiet good but took a chance on putting the SH-15nc in the Heritage Cherry one. My choice for replacement has been the JB but oh man, the SH-15 has a more full sound. Using a Fender CT SE with 2 1x12 ext. cabs loaded with Eminence Delta Pro 12As the alt. 8 gives a heavy tight bottom end; full midrange, not harsh and a really sweet top end with no shrill. The SH-15 cleans up very well also; the Delta Pros love od and the SH-15 !*!*! cranks and is my new favorite pickup; GET IT!

Got mids?

If you've been looking for that upper midrange crunch in your mix, then this is the pickup for you. This is absolutely the best pup Duncan has made IMO and is exactly the sound that I have always wanted. For me they took the best features out of their top high output pickups (or at least all the positive feature I wanted in a pup) and blended them into one. They boosted the mids from the JB, they took the low end from the Custom, the tightness and articulation of the Full Shred, and the highs and drive from the Distortion and put them all into this one pickup. So if the JB's bottom end is too loose and mids aren't enough, the Custom's mids are too scooped, the Full Shreds low end is hardly noticable, and the Distortion highs are too shrill and tinny... then this is the pickup for you. I can't speak enough about it. I own 3 of them.

This pick-up really takes on a different voice with every rig you put it through. First off,I used it in a Ibanez Prestige model, dual humbucker set-up, with this in the bridge and a SH-4 jb in the neck. Any box or moderately gainy amp you put in front of it can really be tweak'd for any number of tonal characteristics. Real hot.....but can get gritty when you back some volume off it. You really gotta play with em' to get the full fun outta them. But you can't go wrong with em' and they are a pleasant surprise for a studio axe. Record very well and work extremely well with the Line 6 stuff. (some of the gain settings were down right scary with this pick-up !!) again..... you gotta get em' to see!!!
