The original custom Pearly Gates pickups were wound for the famous '59 Les Paul Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues rock. Essentially a variation on the Patent Applied For sound, Seymour Duncan's Pearly Gates sound sweet, but is slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top that make harmonics jump out of the guitar.

Seymour Duncan SH-PG1 Pearly Gates Pickup Features:

  • Vintage design
  • Super hot output
  • Raw edge
  • Great sustain

Heaven can wait. Right now it's time to get down with one of the hottest pickups ever made. Order now and watch the sparks fly!

I play an Epiphone L.P. Studio Deluxe which I love, but the pups were lacking. I tried the Gibson 500T Bridge and 496R Neck for a couple of weeks. They're very HOT and I just couldn't throttle em back, so "in with the SD Pearly Gates Neck and Bridge. Un-freakin-believable. I adjusted the overall height and fine tuned them with the pole pieces to get just the right balance. They smoke every other pup I ever tried hands down. Think I might get an extra set in case they ever quit makin these. (I really don't see that happening though).

I put one in the bridge of my H/H Strat Custom and man, was I surprised. The Alnico 2 magnet version is easily the best, much better than ALnico 5. IT's very responsive to playing dynamics (soft strums to pick smashing) and with a tone knob, you can get so many blends of tones with it. I have it paired with an ALnico II Pro, and they compensate for each other perfectly. It's a bit pricey, but chances are you'll not regret the purchase.

I put this pup on my Mexican Fat strat (HSS) and it's like I bought a new guitar. The Fender stock pup was a little muddy. This brought out that sound that I was looking for. A bluesy, jazzy, nice sound that is great for my style of play. Country, Rock, Alternative. Great cleans and distortion. A little pricey but well worth it.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul standard and put these Pearly Gates in both the neck and bridge posisitons and WOW what a difference it has made. They are a little pricey but once you hear them...its worth it. I agree, if properly installed and set up I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed.
