The original custom Pearly Gates pickups were wound for the famous '59 Les Paul Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues rock. Essentially a variation on the Patent Applied For sound, Seymour Duncan's Pearly Gates sound sweet, but is slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top that make harmonics jump out of the guitar.

I put one in the bridge of my H/H Strat Custom and man, was I surprised. The Alnico 2 magnet version is easily the best, much better than ALnico 5. IT's very responsive to playing dynamics (soft strums to pick smashing) and with a tone knob, you can get so many blends of tones with it. I have it paired with an ALnico II Pro, and they compensate for each other perfectly. It's a bit pricey, but chances are you'll not regret the purchase.

I put this pup on my Mexican Fat strat (HSS) and it's like I bought a new guitar. The Fender stock pup was a little muddy. This brought out that sound that I was looking for. A bluesy, jazzy, nice sound that is great for my style of play. Country, Rock, Alternative. Great cleans and distortion. A little pricey but well worth it.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul standard and put these Pearly Gates in both the neck and bridge posisitons and WOW what a difference it has made. They are a little pricey but once you hear them...its worth it. I agree, if properly installed and set up I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed.

This went in the bridge position of my homemade guitar, after going over reviews of different pickups and trying out similar guitars with different pickups. This pickup really stands out- it is very smooth, without being muddy, and has singing treble as well. It does very well for distortion tones, everything from eric clapton to metallica. I was really impressed- I think I'm going to get one for the neck position as well now!
