Depends on what you use it for...

This pickup sounds great with lots of distortion...and that's about it. Clean it sounds really warm and almost as if your tone knob is rolled off. It takes away pretty much all of the famous Tele twang. So if you have a Tele and plan on playing nothing but Metallica and Disturbed, this would probably work for you. If you need to be a little more versatile, you might want to consider other pickups.

I have a Squier Tele which i planned to upgrade. I started with this. Easily the best thing ive done so far. This thing is sick distorted, clean whatever. Twangy, Hot as hell, and knows how to rock. 5 Stars!

#1 Must-Have for Your Tele

I bought the '52 reissue Tele about 5 years ago and within 1 year, I swapped the vintage bridge pickup out for the hot rails. The difference is jaw-dropping. The output on this is killer. If you like Tele twang, you won't completely lose it with this pickup compared to other ones out there. And if you want to crank to do some rock, there's nothing better on the market. The ONLY downside is that you have to do a lot of volume control when you switch pickup positions because this is so hot and loud. Other than that, this pickup made my Tele the #1 choice when gigging.

Turned my Tele into a Gibson!

I've had my 52 Tele reissue for almost 2 years now and it has been the absolute love of my life. However, I always wondered what it would sound like if I replaced the vintage bridge pickup (which is very thin and trebly) with a modern humbucker. The difference is incredible! I now have a tele that can achieve thick, bassy, clean tones and high powered overdrive tones, without all the hum and noise of single coil pickups. If you love your tele, but wish you had a deeper tone, than this is for you!

I got a secondhand squire as my first guitar and the previous owner had one of these put in. I only recently learned how to use it right though. with the tone(on my guitar) a little less than half way up, and pickup selecter in the middle I can get the perfect classic rock tone! great for "led zeppelin", and "the who". it also alows good metal sounds too (good not great). you need this pickup! you get a little bit of buzzing but thats probubly my 15 wat amp. I fell back in love with my guitar.(after I learned how to use it right)
