This bridge came preinstalled on my Epiphone CE490 but the ceramic cracked a few years ago so I used a Lace sound hole pickup. I finally decided to try to replace it so I could use the built in volume and EQ giving me some more control and volume. I think the original cracked because of inconsistant or awkward string tension, so when replacing the strings I am very careful now to apply the tension slowly and evenly. The sound is nice and pickup quite 'hot'. Much more so then my sound hole one, and much lounder obvioulsy with the EQ amp. It is a little bit bass heavy but the EQ can correct that. I recall the original was the same way. Maybe its my instrument or my ears preference but I cut the bass -3db and boost the treb +2db. This is a pretty specific part. You need a bridge with the 8mm gap. Mine still had some play in it so I used one of the spacers that usually raises the bridge, behind it to fit it in snug. The original also had a 1/8 (I think) plug on the end. This one just has the wire, so I patched that together with some electrical tape. Overall not bad. It's good to have my guitar back to its original configuration.
