I have used the Sony, Yamaha, TDK, and HHB Discs on my MD8 and MD4 And with them linked via midi to get more tracks They have always worked flawless! And mixing down to standard minis does save money and you can arcive your master trakes!

TDK 140K Mini Disk

I've used these, as well as Sony's own brand, in my Yamaha MD8 for several years. Both brands are trouble-free, in my experience. I did have to remind myself when rating "value" that I'm rating the product, not the format, because the format does limit one's time in 8-track mode. My workaround to save money (rather than erasing multitrack masters) is to use the far less expensive standard Mini Disks in the MD8 for any live-to-2 track recording, and for non-critical stuff (such as laying down a rhythm guitar and drum track when writing a new song, or to hear test recordings when I'm auditioning either settings or gear.) I still like the hands-on/analog feel of the MD8 control surface, and the TDK disks (some now several years and hundreds of playbacks later) have never exhibited so much as a dropout.

I use these in my Yamaha MD8

I've been using the TDK 140MB Data Discs in a Yamaha MD-8 for about 5 years. They only last about 18 mins recording on all 8 tracks which does make it a little expensive. This is not TDK's fault just the way mini discs are. You can get 37 mins out of them by using the 4 track REC mode. I've erased and recorded over and over on them with no loss of sound quality.

I concur with the views expressed by the other favorable reviews and would like to add one point. Though quite "spendy," the MD Data format allows for noiseless "ping pong" recording of track overdubs (compensation for fewer track is using the h___ out of the 4 you do have).

the TDK would not function in my Yamaha MD8. Watch out. . the Data Disk I use is HHB and it works great every time.
