Good for most drummers

I've had this metronome for several years. I've had some minor problems with it, namely the temperamental start/tap button. I have it mounted on my hi-hat stand and start/tap is prone to triggering when I play with my foot, yet I've had trouble getting it to work when I'm pushing it intentionally with my finger. You have to go through all 20 memory settings, even if you haven’t programed them all, to get back to the beginning. Plus, the memory button doesn't work while a pedal is plugged in. I've also come to dislike the tempo knob, as it's difficult to fine-tune the tempo while playing.

Its simplicity is a good thing for most drummers most of the time. But forget about compound time signatures or really doing anything beyond simple time keeping and beat mixing. It can store multiple tempos/beats, but there's no way to program it to loop amongst them.

The Boss DB-60 is a cheaper and more capable metronome, but it's also less user friendly.

Awesome Metronome

I have owned rhythm watch for over five years. I have practiced consistently with it and have only needed to replace my nine volt once! I used the Dr. Beats at a military music tech school for six months. In six months of practicing, I replaced batteries weekly.

The clicks are also very audible through a direct in for a click track as well.

One dependable piece of equipment

I've owned a Rhythm Watch (earlier model without backlight) for 4+ years and it works as advertised. Big plus of this product is that it is so loud. I've never have a problem hearing it over my drumming. Some of the competition have more features, but this product does everything I need for practice short of using loops. Using a foot pedal it is easy to toggle through custom settings. Smaller threads (6mm I believe) make it easy to screw on to old cymbal stands

I agree with all of the positive remarks about this product. But something I feel I needed to add was this: USE IT CORRECTLY! Treat this item like any other electronic device. You wouldn't hit the send button on your cell phone with a drumstick, so DON'T hit the start/stop button with a drumstick! Also - take care of your equipment. Would you leave your laptop computer in a damp, cold, moldy environment such as an equipment truck? No! So like I've stated - take care of your rhythm watch and it will last forever. We've taken this metronome on the road with us countless times, never failed once. So in conclusion - if you are complaining about it "not holding up" - get a clue and learn how to use equipment! If you break this product - you're probably one of "those people" who go through drumheads like toilet paper. I'm so sick of overbearing drummers complaining that products don't "hold up" --- don't be a caveman! If you can't learn how to take care of things - don't buy them! Peace!

I have had this for a year and a half and i have had no problems with it I dont know why everyone keeps complaining about it. And it has 7 8 and 9 for different time signatures. Its awesome durable to! I've dropped it, hit it, stepped on it, and it still works great. Good job Tama!
