Easy to Learn and Use

If you can operate a CD player, you can use the TASCAM CD-BT1mkII Portable CD Bass Trainer. Take any standard compact disc by your favorite band and put it in the CD mechanism. Then plug your bass directly into the CD-BT1mkII's 1/4" input. Put on some headphones, set the volume, and start rocking! If you're a vocalist, you can do the same, substituting your microphone for the guitar.

Slow Down and Learn with Slow Speed Audition feature

In ancient times (like the 1970s), musicians would take a vinyl LP record and manually spin the record on a turntable, slowing it down to be able to better hear and understand the performances, like bass solos and complex chord changes. With the CD-BT1mkII, you get a training method that's even better. Not only can you slow down the speed of the CD by up to 50%, but you can also do it without changing the pitch of the original material! After you learn the lick at a slow speed, you can increase the tempo in steps until you can match the original performance note for note. Also, you can change the pitch of the CD without changing the speed . . . use this feature to "tune the CD" to your instrument.

Effect Yourself

The CD-BT1mkII has 16 great-sounding built-in customizable bass effects . . . you don't need to turn to external boxes for chorus, EQ, and more. The Bass Boost and Enhance settings allow you to boost the bass part so that you can hear it better, and Bass Cut lets you mute the original so you can play along.

Performance Tools

You can set seamless in-out loop points with the CD-BT1mkII . . . it will play the same section of music over and over again so you can focus on your playing. Use the footswitch input to start and stop the CD or to scroll through effects. The CD-BT1mkII even provides a chromatic tuner so you always sound great when you play, and it can run on batteries to take your show on the road. You can listen to the CD-BT1mkII via headphones or use its Line Output to plug in speakers.

Well it was great

I had this bass trainer unit for about a year and the volume pots went bad. I got tired of trying to barely touch it to get it where I wanted. I went out today and bought the new CD-BT2 version. Hopefully I will have better lucky with this one. It is a great machine and really did let me slow down some very fast licks where I could learn them. If I have to keep buying new ones, I think I will always have one of these things handy.

Tascam CD-BT1mkII Works Great

I have been using my CD-BT1mkII bass trainer for a little over 2 years now. It has been a great help. I play in a Praise band at church. The sheet music I get doesn't alway match the key that the CD was recorded in. I can use the "key" function on the CD-BT1mkII to change the key of the CD to what is printed on my music sheets. I can play along with the CD to learn the new songs quickly. The only weak point I find is the CD cover or lid. I guess if handled roughly it could break off easily. I haven't had any problems with my unit. There is a little warble in the songs when slowed down or the "key" is changed. I haven't found this to be a real problem though.

Dazed and confused

I would like to start by saying I've purchased other Tascam products and have been very happy with them. This unit misses the mark .I bought this machine today and I couldn't be more DISPLEASED with the instructions included with the machine. I'm wondering if the unit I bought is defective or if I'm just missing something. I followed the set-up instuctions step by step and this thing sounds TERRIBLE at any speed. This thing couldn't be any more difficult to use. My advice to anyone pondering getting this unit, try it out first. This unit is flimsy and fragile. The "feature" rating I give is based on what they say it CAN do. Mine is going back or in the trash can.

I started playing bass in 80's, back then I ruined alot of turntables and stretched out a bunch of cassettes trying to learn songs. About 5 years ago I bought my Tascam Trainer and my playing has improved tremendously. Now I can catch every note thrown at me! This unit is a little fragile so I bought a DVD case to protect it.

Bass Player

The Tascam bass trainer is great for learning those hard to hear bass lines on your favorite cd's the loop feature is great I also like the bass cut feature I can remove the bass from the cd and play along with my bass guitar I like all the features associated with this unit, the only problem I had was with the bass jack I just could not hear my bass guitar in the mix I had to send the unit back for a replacement, aside from that I encourage anyone wishing to learn bass lines from their favorite cd's to get this bass trainer I only wish Tascam would make this unit a little more durable. I learned quite a few bass lines from my cd's I currently use those particular bass lines for other songs. I play bass guitar at my church, my band members have noticed an improvement in my bass playing I will continue to use this device I just can't keep my hands off this bass trainer.
