I've had a CD-GTI and earlier model of the CD-GT2 which just failed last week. The features can be very useful for learning parts and songs and even checking out pedals but each of them suddenly failed to play CDs for no apparent reason. They both got used frequently but sat in one dedicated spot in my practice room. Never moved. Never taken anywhere. I'm not a kid. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I used them to practice one night and the next night the CD skipped constantly, changed speeds or wouldn't play at all. Expect them to last about a year or so. If I buy another one I'll definitely buy the extended warranty.

I am very impressed with this trainer! It does everything it's suppose to do, and it is very easy to use. I plugged in, thinking I would just try it out for a few minutes, but ended up playing for 3 hours! It's really fun!
I dug out some CDs and heard some things I've never heard before. No doubt this will help my playing! (if only I had one of these back in the 80s!)

I bought this thing for the sole purpose of slowing down solos. I don't sing or play guitar through it.. so I don't know about those functions. I have it plugged into my stereo, & play along thru my guitar amp. It slows songs down nicely... yes some guys say it gets 'blury' when too slow, but thats the background music. The solos stay just fine. There are 2 main factors in this feature to keep in mind, and have nothing to do with the unit itself : 1.) Fast solos will still be difficult to read even at the slowest speed. I mean - if you have a jet plane & a car, & slow them both down 40%, the jet is still going fast, get it ? And #2 -- the recording of the CD itself in regarding the 'guitar cancel' feature. If the CD solo is recorded all by itself in the L or R speaker, great. But if theres bass, rhythm guitar, drums, vocals, etc... all mixed in, it does not cancell out all that noise. I mean, its a good machine, just not a dream come true. It seems a bit fragile & lightweight, not too sturdy. The loop feature is great... but you can't loop more than 1 track... like if you set a loop for track 2 & then go set one for track 5, when you go back to track 2, & hit LOOP, it brings you back to track 5. So the last loop you save cancells out the first. No big deal but that would have been better to save multiple loops. So its a pretty good thing to have. I like it.... but I'd feel better if it was cheaper.

Being an old timer I did not get the GT2 to figure out guitar runs instead I used it for learning Accordion leads (said I was an old timer). Doesn't matter what instrument lead you are trying to figure out this little squirt does the job. Very impressed with slowing the tempo down and still maintaing the correct pitch. Followed along a song by playing the bass/chord buttons on the left hand of the Accordion and it was in perfect pitch at a slower speed. The Loop In/Out and Flashback are just what the Doctor ordered to learn passages. Buy it; you won't be sorry.

I absolutely love this thing. My first time to sit down with it, I stayed in one spot for about 6 hours! I found that the pitch stays accurate even when you slow the tempo way down. I was also very impressed with the option to change playback pitch in cents, in order to fine tune the playback to match my guitar, which I like to keep tuned to standard pitch.
