These strings offer the best of all worlds. They are pretty smooth to the touch, very balanced in terms of lows, mids and highs, and very balanced from string to string. The B-string is pretty much the best I've tried (and I've tried them all). I put them in an MTD Z5 that had a mediocre-to-bad B-string sound with the stock string (MTD steels), and this string changed the sound for the better 100%. Now the B-string is strong and clear, and mixes beautifully with the rest of the strings. Beware, these string are LONG. Even on this 35" scale bass, the B and E strings were too long by about 1-1/2". Specially the B-string, but it still works. There is a regular 34"-scale set, but those are a gauge higher, and I like light strings. But overall, these must be one of the best strings ever. A bit expensive, but they should last long enough to justify the investment.
