the sound of the pros

I've used these exclusively now for 4 years after the great Carol Kaye informed me they are what she and many other studio pros of the 60's used. They are the absolute best if that is the sound you desire and you like to use your touch to achieve tonal changes. They last forever, never go out of tune, and will intonate perfectly.

Unbelievable Tone and Life

These are quite possibly my favorite bass strings ever. I've been playing bass seriously for about ten years and I've tried dozens of sets of strings, and these are my favorite. The tone and feel of these strings is completely unmatched. With their resonating tone and slower attack, they sound about as close to an upright bass as any electric can get (with the proper tone settings on your bass). I have had them installed on a Warwick Corvette Fretless for about six months and they still sound like they're two days old! I can get Jaco like tones with the tone on full and bridge pickup on as well. My only complaint is that they are a little lower tension than I'm used to, so they can feel a little floppy at first, but I got used to it pretty quick. I have not tried them on my fretted jazz bass, because I like to keep a different sound between my basses, so I can't comment on how they would sound on that bass, but if your playing a fretless bass, you owe it to yourself to try these out. They are expensive, yes, but seem to last forever so the value of these strings is actually quite high. I would never put any other strings on a fretless bass.

This is my first experience with these strings. I usually use round wound....but WOW. the sustain is unbelievable....crisp highs.....low low lows. Good speed. The tension is perfect. I know they are expensive but you just gotta try them.

These are great strings to get that standup sound out of an electric. They have a great feel when playing and a super smooth sound. Execellent quality string.

Great All-Around String!

I play mostly jazz on my upright bass, but took the electric out of its case to play a couple musical gigs. I'm playing on a Schecter Stiletto Custom 4 with a epoxied fingerboard. Previously, I was using rotosound Jazz flats. the TIs sound and feel great. The tension is very natural and a light touch can coax out an array of tones. My only caveat is that the G string as clear as the others, but it might just be me. Oh yea... did I tell you they're expensive?
