A cool-looking, convenient, and time-saving method for securing cymbals to stands. Unlike the traditional wing nut, the Slick Nut doesn't need to be threaded on or off and won't loosen or fall off while you play. Simply hold in the fastening button, put Slick Nut on the cymbal stand, and release the button. It can also be used as a theft deterrent by tightening the hex set screw on the side of the body. This makes the Slicknut nonremovable, a great feature for drummers who have to leave their drum kits in clubs overnight. The Slick Nut fits stands with 8mm threads and has a cymbal felt attached. Hex key and replacement felt included.

I've used a set of six with my drum set. They are very convenient, look great and reasonably secure. However, they can sometimes pop off. For real security, you need to tighten the side set screw, but then that negates the easy-on-easy-off benefits.

I have been using Slicknuts for about 3 years and I find them to be exceptional! I found that if you replace the felt from underneath the cymbal with the thinner felt provided with the Slicknut you can thread it on further... which completely eliminates the 'pop off' issue. Try it out and see if that works for you guys having problems.

Nice but could be better

This does what I want and, fortunately, I'm not picky. I don't know what size all my cymbal threads are...it's typically not listed when you buy them. For example I have a couple of the popular gibralter cymbal grabber arms (no thread size listed in the description..just the arm size) The slick nut will fit on it and my other stands, however, it will only slide down about 1/2" max. As a result, I can't get a snug fit with the top felt and cymbal. Fortunately, I'm fine with loose cymbals and no damping so it doesn't really affect me. Plus, with no contact (1/2" space between the top felt and slick nut) there's no risk of popping it off like people have complained about.

So to sum up, I can get it to slide down and lock in at the very top of the cymbal stand thread. It's fast and easy and cuts a lot of time off the cymbal set up and tear down. If I needed to dampen a cymbal or two with a tighter mount, I wouldn't be able to slide it down so, for that reason, I had to take off points. It's a good concept and helpful (if you're not picky) but needs to be developed further.

I've been playing with these for over 7 years now. It is true that if you hit your cymbals hard enough it'll cause the nut to pop off & you're left with a loose cymbal. It works exceptionally well on threads that are longer than 1" 1/2 in length. But if the shaft is flush with the top of the nut you risk it popping off if you hit your cymbal hard enough. Overall it works well & I haven't had any problems with the quality of this product. I would recommend it.

This is a really great idea. And when I first bought one I thought it was cool. And a lot more efficient then your average wingnuts. I didnt have to worry about them falling off becauase I used it on my spash which I don't hit too hard. Then one day it just stopped working. I don't know how or why but the button was just jammed. Great idea, but probably wouldnt reccomend
