I loved it till it died

I had my Visual Sound 1 SPOT Combo Pack for about 13 months of light intermittent use before it died (at a gig, of course -- I carry backups of lots of gear, but it hadn't occurred to me to have a backup AC adapter). I loved it until it died -- the cable is longer and beefier than other wall warts, the price was attractive, and the daisy-chain cable and adapter collection is great. At least I still have those! I haven't decided whether to replace the 1 SPOT or try something else. The failure is disappointing, but then I did gig with this and the power quality at venues is famously bad. I used it with a variety of pedals, but I don't think I ever plugged in more than two or three at a time. Usually it was either a StroboStomp or an overdrive pedal. I'm not really a big pedal user.

I bought this about a month ago to power my new wah, noise gate, and delay pedals. At first it worked good, but after about 2 weeks it started to randomly quit during the middle of songs. Then last night it just completely died and won't work anymore. I knew this was too good of a price for something so good. Yeah, it works great at first, but it's not even worth buying if it dies after a month. I'm going to save my money for a higher priced power supply. I'm jut glad I didn't do any shows with this.

Truly a must-have for any pedal board unless you like throwing away 9-volt batteries all the time. I currently use one adapter to power 5 pedals (Danelectro Hash Browns flanger, Danelectro FAB chorus, Boss Turbo Distorion, Dunlop Hendrix Wah and a Rogue volume/wah) and my signal couldn't be cleaner. In the couple of months I've been using mine, I've experienced no trouble and no drop in signal that comes from dying batteries. And there's no residual hum that can come from having 4 or 5 transformers (if running one adapter for each one of your pedals) in such close proximity to your pedals. I bought the Combo Pack which included all the adapters I'll ever need, though all my pedals use the standard plugs on the daisy-chain. Though they're good to have in case I ever get some bizarre pedal from Kazakhstan. A great deal no matter how you look at it.

I've purchased this unit to power my pedalboard of standard Boss pedals. I'm a gigging musician, doing 2-5 nights per week in a cover band gig around Northern NJ. At first the unit worked great, but after a few months it became intermittant. Upon inspecation I noticed that the metal prongs had loosened up and were wiggling around and seemed to be causing a short. So, I had to dump it and go to another power supply. I guess this unit could be considered a good value, but if you have to replace it every few months it's really not worth the $$$.
